Cutler had *fourth* best running game in the NFL last year, per Football Outsiders.

No matter how you regard their work, you can't say his running game wasn't good. It was better than ours, in every way you could possibly look at it.

If you're saying he's a top young QB, I have to either 1) assume you ARE saying he's going to become what Manning is or 2) I have to point out to you that you're overestimating the limited difference between Campbell and Cutler.

Campbell will always be a tier below Manning. I'm pretty sure Cutler's not getting there either. They are both franchise type Quarterbacks, and usually, the best strategy is to play with what you've got.

Re: It's Over: Cutler Going to Chicago

The scariest thing about this whole potential trade to me is the difference in opinion/value around the league between Cutler and Campbell. That we couldn't even get a 2nd round pick for JC is very odd and that they put Cutler's value at 2 #1's and a 3rd plus a QB is even more strange? Cutler may be a bit better than JC but is he really that much better?... or is the FO correct in assessing that JC is not the man and is just an average QB justified by the rest of the league as maybe a 3rd round value?
Im glad we didnt' overpay for Cutler and I am perfectly happy that JC hopefully will be our QB for the future. Not too mention he is a class act who has never been anything other than a professional by all means. Now if we can just block for him, catch some passes for him, and hope he gets rid of the ball faster this year! Good luck Jason

Here's the thing, you should never underestimating the ability of football execs to misevaluate talent on other teams.

They're pretty close in skill. If you made me pick one, I'd take Cutler, but that's not the point. The point is, if you have the undervalued QB, you dont just naturally assume your assessment is wrong, you hold on and try to win with him.

The Redskins failed miserably at this today.

Whether it is unfair or fair - it appears the job of quarterback in Zorn's offense is to be the leader period. Whether he is put in a position to win is not the question; it's what he does with his situation. There's something to be said for being patient and for showing loyalty to a player for the team that you are rooting for - but I believe that you can show that you are a great player in one season, not three, not two, not one and half seasons - but ONE season. That's all it takes. I like Jason Campbell - but he needs to just do what he needs to do. I believe wholeheartedly that if you put in the work that the results will follow - so far the results have been 50/50, so the work put in...
He has been treated unfairly how? His record is worse then MB and everyone is saying he was treated unfairly. Has he even had a winning season? I like the guy but I'm not against moving on.

If anyone on this fourm didn't gain respect for Campbell today, not only do they lack football sense, they also don't understand human behavior. I always respected Jason Campbell the QB, but now, I have the utmost respect for Jason Campbell the human being.

Cutler also had a much better O-line, a better receiving corps with a pro-bowler who happens to be taller than 5'9", not to mention a defense that was so bad they were throwing like crazy to catch up in games.

I don't have the exact stats in front of me, but Campbell was sacked like 3x more than Cutler. I wonder what Jason's numbers and our record would have looked like if you flipped those stats.

fd, you're missing the point. He's done NOTHING (as defined as not one thing) to suggest he can't become a top QB as soon as next year. This organization just went balls out to bring Cutler in here. He didn't provide one sound bite to the media that suggests he doesn't want to be here. That's exceptional.

The fact that better QBs exist in the world is irrelivant. You don't trade in a quality guy like Campbell for whatever you can get.

NFL Stats: by Team Category

THEY HAD THE 12TH BEST ACCORDING TO NFL.COM (MAINLY BECAUSE CUTLER MAKES PLAYS WITH THAT ROCKET ARM LOL)

AND IF JC IS A "FRANCHISE" QB THEN WHY HAVN'T WE RESIGNED HIM TO A LONG TERM DEAL? THAT SHOWS YOU THAT THE TEAM DOESN'T TRUST HIM! SO I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE RIGHT ABOUT JC AND HE HAS A GREAT YEAR BECAUSE HE AND THE OLINE WERE OUR OFFENSIVE PROBLEMS LAST YEAR AND WE ALL KNOW THAT!

No question. I said it earlier and I'll say it again- Cutler could learn a lot about how to handle adversity from Jason. I'm proud that our team leader handles himself with such character. Hell, Danny Boy could learn a lot from JC's stand up attitude.

I'm so relieved it's not even funny. I was in an AWFUL mood until a little after 5pm today.

No need to yell....... and not signing JC to a super longterm deal has been a very smart move by our FO. Its not that we do not trust him, just that he has yet to prove without a doubt he is capable of running our team. He finally has consistency in a coaching staff, and a reason to go over and beyond (a potential new contract). All that will happen remains to be seen, but we do not have any reason to abandon hope in Campbell.

Why don't you worry about someone who actually underachieved last year like Fred Smoot, or Greg Blache?

Is it because you don't know what role they have on this team? You're knowledge of the team is only skin deep?

That shows that Danny doesn't trust him. And we've all seen what a dimwit he is when it comes to football knowledge. The team definitely trusts him, and Zorn has had his back from day 1.

"We all know that" ??? Really? The O-line yes, Campbell? Not so much.
