By the way, how serious is his injury. Talk about a fragile dude. I was just dumbfounded how he got hurt after watching the hit several times.

EDIT: Looks like Colt has a pinched nerve, so that's not the end of the world.
Good, I'm not crazy. That's what I thought, too.

It was strange. I'm not saying that he was paid to throw the game, but if he were, that might be how he went about playing his part.

Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft

We need the best O-linemen we can get maybe we get lucky and Samuels returns and plays well and stays healthy. If we can protect just a little JC can do enough for us to win. We'll have to slug it out and let our D get it done, In the meantime we can draft our future QB in the later rounds.

Give it up my friend, Samuels, Thomas, and Rabach have not been able to compete or stay healthy for at least the last three years. We NEED o-line, it would be nice to have a new QB, but we absolutly HAVE TO aquire top talent for o-line.
The Redskins inability to score points, or even move the football at times is a direct result of a poor offensive line. The saying, "The game is won and lost in the trenches.", is very true.
The o-line is the engine that makes an offense go, if they are blowing holes in a d-line, running backs are ripping off huge chunks of yards, if they are able to pass block, pass plays are able to develop and the offense marches down field. When an o-line cannot run block and blow holes in a d-line, the run gets stuffed. When an o-line cannot pass block, the d=line is in the back field ripping the QBs head off. Sound familiar?
Do you realize that in the last 10 years the Redskins have scored the 4th LEAST points in the league? This is a direct result of neglecting the o-line. If you look at any superbowl winner, or even the playoff teams year in and year out, you are looking at teams with the best o-lines in the league, look at the Jets yesterday. It was their o-line and d-line that won the game, not Sanchez. Don't kid yourself and don't get it twisted, the game is won and lost on the line of scrimage...

Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft

I completely agree. I'd be fine with us drafting ALL lineman, and maybe a RB somewhere in the late rounds (a Shanahan special). I wouldn't be opposed to a QB first, but I'm a little skeptical about Clausen and Bradford...

Todd McShay currently has us taking Bradford. He says he's better than Clausen.

Today's Mock Draft

1st - Sam Bradford - QB - Oklahoma - Campbell might be the starter next year but team needs a guy that can be a franchise player in the future. I think that under Shannahan Bradford can easily be that guy. I think his NFL equivelant in terms of talent will be Phillip Rivers.

2nd - Charles Brown - OT - USC - Former Tight End converted to Tackle. Great footwork and seems born to play in a zone blocking scheme. Unlike Heyer Brown knows how to bend his knees. A steal in the second round. In reading his scouting report I believe he might be a better fit then Okung.

4th - Sergio Rendar - OG - VT - While not tailor made for a zone blocking scheme the fact of the matter is he does have the desirable attributes.

I completely agree about Charles Brown. I'll bet that Shanny does, too.

Mort just alluded to the fact that Jake Locker might change his mind and that he would love for the chance to get coached by Shannahan. At the same time he would probably be drafted by the Rams and I doubt the Redskins try to trade up to Locker. By the same token he could try to pull and Eli Manning and tell the Rams he doesn't want to play for them basically leading to him falling to us at 4 but I doubt that happens.

Also going back to Brown, it's possible we could draft Okung and have our bookends for the next decade but I still say Shanahan goes with the QB first, especially considering he likes the type of Tackles that tend to fall during drafts due to lack of size.

And the fact that the virtue of the current tackle class, if it has one, is its depth, rather than its strength at the top.

Locker re-declaring would be excellent. Maybe the Rams would take Suh. Or maybe they would take Clausen, reasoning that he is more polished and NFL-ready. Either way, Locker would fall to us.

I think we shoud just get Bradford but if we can trade down and get 2 first round picks we can get 2 oline men and use the 2nd on colt McCoy

Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft

we need to take the best player on the board. with a pick this high we simply can't draft for need. if that pick happens to be berry then we should take him. if it's the guy from ok state then take him. if it's bradford then take him. best player end of discussion. but if it is bradford then we had better start him right away.

Although I think we should go OT with the first 2 picks, unless Suh or Berry fall to us, I wouldn't be too upset with this.

I won't be surprised if Shanny looks to develop a guy who's not a rookie. I mean it seems little narrow to assume his focus on QB is limited to college prospects.
Good point.. whoever the next guy is wouldn't be the only guy Shanahan has taken and made better.. though they were already on the team when he did so. He may think he can do something with Leinart, Quinn, or something.

I agree; though the 2nd day this year is the 2nd and 3rd, the 1st gets its own night. 4-7 will be on the 3rd day (Saturday).

I guess it gives teams a bit more time to negotiate trades between rounds and whatnot.
