Re: Washington Capitals 2010-2011 ongoing thread
Hot damn boys we're going streaking. At this rate we might get a 1 seed for the playoffs. Our reward, a possible match-up against the leagues hottest team.

Re: Washington Capitals 2010-2011 ongoing thread
So does anyone know who should start in net for the Caps? I keep on trying to avoid it but it's looking more and more like Holtby should get the nod. 10-2-2 .934 SV% and 1.79 GAA. 2 full game shut outs and 1 where he came in midway through the first period.

Re: Washington Capitals 2010-2011 ongoing thread
I don't know what it is about Varly but the more I see of Neuvy and Holtby the more I think that's where our future is at. Varly scares me sometimes with his inconsistency, it's like one minute he makes an amazing save and the next he gives up a goal that looks so easy.
As far as the playoffs go, I think we are going to go with Neuvy in net. Varly's inconsistency is too much and I don't think they want to throw Holtby into the playoff atmosphere just yet.

Re: Washington Capitals 2010-2011 ongoing thread
wow, what a game last night! neuvy looked shaky the entire game. i'm not completely comfortable with him playing goalie in the playoffs. caps were down 4-3 with under 2 minutes left in regulation so they pulled neuvy to make it 6 on 5, then they were awarded a power play. now it's 6 on 4, jason arnott scores the caps goal with under 1 minute left to make it 4-4. over time was ovie time. the great 8 put the gwg in the net!!

Re: Washington Capitals 2010-2011 ongoing thread
Yeah I kinda think Holtby should be the guy, too. Varly and Neuvy are just so darn inconsistent. It's really frustrating. Granted Holtby's sample size isn't very large, but he's been nothing short of outstanding. Go with the hottest hand.

philly blew it in Buffalo so the Caps take the East! After last year you have to believe they'll be ready for anything this time around.

1st round will be either Carolina or New York. If New York looses tomorrow then they're out. 2nd Round will likely be the winner of Pitt/Tampa. Unless Montreal pulls another 1st round upset over Boston or Buffalo upsets Pittsburgh in which case we'll face Buffalo or Montreal. If both Buffalo and Montreal pull off the upsets we play Buffalo. Montreal certainly has a chance of upsetting Boston to as they lead the regular season series 4-2. So if anything Montreal might be the most likely 2nd round opponent. 3rd Round Obviously whoevers left standing. This is the only round the Caps can possibly play Boston or Philly. If Boston or Philly is upset then we would play the winner of Tampa/Pitt and Boston/Philly. If seeds were a good indication it would likely be Carolina/New York, Pitt, Philly, then Vancouver in the finals. But as we know from last year nothing is guaranteed. Flyers really blew it though. 5 straight losses and counting to end the regular season.

Re: Washington Capitals 2010-2011 ongoing thread
Anyone hear Wise on 106.7 the fan yesterday. Pretty much asked Boudreau about his job security...
Pretty shitty timing if you ask me. I understand that there is a journalistic responsibility to ask the tough question, but on the eve of Game 1...perhaps not quite appropriate. Plus, I think it was pretty obvious what the answer was going to be, and not necessarily relevant from a sportswriters perspective. That being said, LETS GO CAPS!
