So which is better?

a) sign Vince Young off of the street without losing players or picks
or
b) trade Haynesworth for Orton

Well I think VY is better than Orton now and the upside is greater as well, so I'll say Young

VY definitely, although I would still want Haynesworth gone.

Another view on VY-to-Redskins talk

Posted by Mike Florio on May 6, 2011, 5:23 PM EDT

AP
Earlier this afternoon, MDS pointed out an item from Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel regarding talk that Titans quarterback Vince Young could be destined for D.C.

Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com pointed out in an e-mail to PFT that Redskins coach Mike Shanahan counts former Titans coach Jeff Fisher and former Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger among his closest friends. Neither Fisher nor Heimerdinger would be expected to endorse Young to Shanahan.

That said, the biggest question for Shanahan is whether he has any better options. Between Young, John Beck, and Rex Grossman, we’d take Vince Young every time.

I'd take the flyer on Young. Either he responds really well to K. Shanahan or he doesn't.

OMG. I read this and article and thought NO EFFING WAY!

I'll take Beck or Grossman any day of the week over Young. No matter how the Skins season ends up. If we have to pick up a third QB I'd prefer Chase Daniels who is not available so Smith or Bulger would get my vote.

Maybe the blogger should have posed the article more in the form of a question.

What would be the attraction for bringing in VY? Does not Head Case trump better athletic skills?
I personally cannot think of any QB's that are head problems that have had any success. Michael Vick would be the closest and if you can believe the MV corner reporting......he is on the mend....but that is another matter.
Build the line, give them some goto weapons, go with Beck or Rexy unless another....."realistic" improvement can be found.
Draft the future next year..........

I agree with Hog1. Why would we want a QB with such emotional instability? Doesn't make any sense to me. At what point in the season would he lose it again? I'll pass on VY. Ryan Leaf had talent too.

How about none of the above .. I do believe we are sticking with qbS we have and hell who knows... the defense might carry us enough and a hopefully improved 2nd year in the system.for the offensive unit we may win some.games.... even if it is with Rex Grossman or Beck

When no other options are available, go with what you have. From what I hear and read there's just not enough faith in what we have to warrant that being a viable solution.

Of course that's coming from everywhere except the HC.

What IF and it's a big IF but let's say Vince Young brings that same excitement to DC and Vick did for Philly? Hey it could happen , add a good running game and a couple more OL and who knows. We agree that our D should be better plus hankerson at WR could be a huge upgrade. Anything is possible

Re: Skinsfaninok's Available NFL QBs Poll

VY is not our future. It does not matter who you bring in this year, unless they have worked in KS offense before, it will take them a couple of years to learn it good enough to be effective, ie; McNabb. At this point even he would be a better option then VY. McNabbs gone most likely and we have two QBs right now who will know the scheme better then anyone we bring in. Beck and Grossman.

Please no more head case temper tantrum playing players like AH.
