Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status
Facts, but there's a margin of error related to option bonus structure, which I am not certain of.
With Carriker, his 250,000 year 1 roster bonus is in there. With the others, it's just amortized signing bonus plus salary. Mostly just worried about finding out if there's any workout bonuses in there.

Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status
Do you have a source for Garcon's number? Not trying to bust your balls I'm just curious cuz I've seen conflicting reports.
This story Redskins reach deals with two wide receivers, re-sign DE Adam Carriker - The Washington Post says "He accepted a five-year deal from the Redskins worth $42 million — $21.5 million of it guaranteed — according to people with knowledge of the situation." If you assume a $21.5M signing bonus, his 2012 SB allocation would be $4.3M. Add in salary and/or roster bonus and his cap hit is over $5M at least. This story Ex-Colts receiver Pierre Garcon agrees to 5-yr, $42.5M deal with Redskins - The Washington Post says "The contract includes $20.5 million in guaranteed money, with an $11 million signing bonus." If you assume an $11M signing bonus, his 2012 SB allocation would be $2.2M. How do you get to $4.3M? |

Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status
Never mind I answered my own question:
Free Agency Open Thread 3.0 With Salary Cap Update - Hogs Haven "Pierre Garcon: Base salary: $2.1m, $11m signing bonus. The bonus prorated over 5 years is $2.2 million per year, meaning that absent any hidden fees, he only accounts for $4.3 million against the cap in 2012." |

Pierre Garcon - Washington Redskins - 2012 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com $2.2 SB + $2.1 guaranteed base salary. Always the possibility of a 50k workout bonus or a weekly roster bonus or something along those lines that wasn't reported, but in the absence of that, it's $4.3 million.

Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status
If you consider the cap penalty, the Redskins currently have just $9.52 million in remaining cap room. The Redskins have the flexibility to increase that number considerably.
But that's only enough to resign our current free agents. With Dwight Lowery going off the market and with the LB and RB markets being slow to develop, if we get Fletcher under contract pretty soon I would expect the Redskins to take a step back and try to get trade value for our excess of receivers.

Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status
Jabar Gaffney clears up $2.65 million if released. Santana Moss and Anthony Armstrong: $0.1 million each.

Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status
You ain't lying. 9.2 seems like enough to re-sign Fletch and an OT, You would at best get a 5th for Gaffney Tripp.

Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status
I think they just want someone younger. And the team needs more than just Fletch and an OT. They need a lot of help on the defense, although they're probably all set on the front five.

Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status
Riley can be a quality starter or a quality backup at this point. But if you don't have anyone to push him, you'll be in trouble vs the run if he misses time. And obviously Fletcher is a different issue entirely, but takes up a huge percentage of the remaining cap if he re-signs.

Re: Redskins 2012 Salary Cap Status
I would take the 5th for Gaffney and roll with it.
