Re: NFL taking away Redskins cap space

well, when you make $20mill/year you sh#$ no longer stinks, apparently.

the nflpa agreed under threat of a reduced salary cap (potentially 100mill+ less for players this year) and they already agreed not to pursue 2010 collusion per the new cba agreement, so i'd say recourse is almost nil, though potentially they could argue for a reduction i guess.

I see. The owners are just seeing all the poor players on the Redskins suffering from losing and wanted to help them out by forcing them to go to brighter pastures. Such benevolence.

My personal preference is to cut some high cost players, restructure some contracts, sign a lot of younger (cheap) players and just take the full hit this year and get it over with.

We got RGIII, and I will NOT let this kill my buzz. Hail.......

From the looks of it the only real candidate for a restructure in terms of getting a big chunk of cap space back in Silverback with his $12 million figure. D-Hall seems like a great candidate to release but seeing as how the penalty is related to front loading his contract I don't know how that would play out.

This is definitely f'd up. I'm not so much concerned about how we'll make up the cap space as I am about the fact a bunch of loser-ass crybaby owners ganged up on us and The Rog essentially did their bidding. I'm definitely not an expert on any stretch but I think we can all agree this reeks of collusion, and the league is basically punishing us for not colluding with the rest of the owners. I hope the Redskins file some sort of legal proceedings that would enable us to get the fine lowered or something. It's pretty ridiculous.

We've been saving those owners from diaster by taking those overpaid and overrated free agents off the market and this is how the repay us.

From what I've seen the teams can spread it as they determine over the next two years. Either way this is a kick squarely in the nuts.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

Exactly what it is. Even more sour about it that 2 years have passed, and the douche that took all that money is a fat lazy phuck no longer playing for the B&G. This whole situation makes me f'in sick. Im gonna go fart in Goodells general direction. F'ckin czar.

Aaaaaaaaand here is the answer to my own question:

All NFL contracts are approved by the NFL Management Council. Curious that there is now punishment for these contracts.

A tweet about possible restructures...

Grant Paulsen ‏ @granthpaulsen
If #Redskins end up asking some of higher-paid plyrs to re-structure, Trent Williams could be candidate. '12 cap number is team-high $14 MM.

**insert munchies joke here**

So at this point, it's 100 percent factual that the Haynesworth signing was the worst signing in the history of football? It's no longer just opinion. I mean, that contract is bordering on being worse than not drafting Michael Jordan with the first pick in the NBA draft.
