If the Shanaplan was to suck so bad that would end up with RG3 then it was a great plan.Yes were on a nice winning streak but im not getting carried away.Im not quite ready to forget the Mcnabb fiasco and the way the whole thing was handled. The whole Haynesworth thing, switching to the 3-4 made no sense and pissed off your 100 million dollar player, those are 2 major f ckups im not ready to forget just because weve won a few games in a row.
The other little things that plagued Mike since he's been here like clock management and on field descisions like when to throw flag for instant replay, have improved slightly during win streak but not by much.
Theres been a few things ive had problems with but we won the games so they were rendered mute.
Then theres the leading the league in penalties,is that on the coach?
Im happy with the progress weve made and I think Mike and Kyle have improved over the winning streak but Im not ready to click on yes or no just yet
I forgot to mention I do thing The Shan has done some positive things.I think overall theyve drafted pretty well.I liked the signing of Hightower,Garcon,Wilson, and i might be forgetting someone. So I do think theyve done some good things.Like I said, wish there was a 3rd option to poll

Funny how just 5 weeks ago we were discussing blowing the whole thing up... Now where do you stand?
I would say that with the current 5 (4?) game win streak, it would be hard to say that things have not gotten better on the squad as a whole. Our defense still scares me, but I believe that Shanahan knows that at minimum, he needs one solid corner, one solid safety, and another solid tackle to say this team is a true to god contender. If we just had better safety play this year, I think we could be heading into week 16 with 10 or 11 wins. I am astonished at how the team has turned around, with the losing streak and the reports of him losing some key players confidence. That being said, it sure does feel good to have a team that is competitive week in and week out. I am changing my tune on how Shanahan is building up this team, and gladly. With RG3, Almo and our solid recievers, offense shouldn't be a problem for at least 6-7 years. Now, we just need one more solid corner and one more solid safety, and this team is looking at double digit wins and playoff runs year after year.

A 5 game winning streak does not erase McNabb, Jamal Brown, John Beck, endless penalties, clock mgt issues, lack of hurry offense when needed, the 3-4. Let's see how this season ends and see how the off season goes. To be continued.

Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?

I hate John Beck the QB, think he's beyond awful. And manipulated everyone with his "I'm rounding up the players for lockout practices"

But...we make too big a deal out of his year here. We traded Doug Dutch...DOUG DUTCH!!!...for him. That's a mistake? But somehow, not drafting Blaine Gabbert high or Ponder or even Locker (who I would have taken) is overlooked.

Anyhow, carry on

so despite all the bad decisions Shanahan has made, and he has made some bad ones, we should give him credit for not making other bad decisions?

Nobody is perfect and expecting a Redskins head coach to be perfect is a fool's errand -- RG3 is fantastic (pulling the trigger on him took some real cajones),the tweaked offense is quite impressive and being in control of the NFC East division race with two weeks left has decimated my work productivity .

That being said -- if we take a slight step backwards, we see the McNabb, Beck, Grossman fiasco among others as well as an overall record of 19-27.
So my honest answer is no, I haven't bought in but I'm close. Winning the East and 1 playoff win would go a long way.

Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?

If those moves had worked out we wouldn't be here now with RG III and cousins. BTW no coach is perfect at evaluating talent or there wouldn't be a 50% fail rate with 1st round picks.

It's not the trade. It's Mike Shanahan saying "he'd put his reputation" on John Beck being a good QB. He actualy tried to sell that nonsense to the fans. WTF was he looking at that made him think Beck could play? But that's all in the past. Hopefully we're headed in the right direction, but I can't say I'm 100% on board simply because of a 5 game win steak.

What else was he gonna say?

Hey everyone we all know Rex and Beck blow, but they're all we got this year?

It was just coach speak. Nothing more.

Preach. Fans take stuff too literally. Maybe he should have said, "All our QB's blow, so we are going to go into this season to evaluate whose going to be here going forward and preparing for next season".

So what is your point? If you note, I framed it as a question

Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?

I mean John Beck was a minor, irrelevant move. If anything, just getting Beck rather than a full commitment to Gabbert (as an example) was the better move

Re: Are you buying into the Shanaplan?

I disagree that it was a minor move -- I mean we went into last season with him as the starter

Regardless, still think it was small potatoes on the grand scale
