Re: Skins vs Bears postgame
Can't help but think that Meriweather is being targeted by the refs to a degree. Yeah some of his hits this year have been questionable, but I thought the calls on him yesterday were really ticky tacky. Gotta feel bad for defenders these days. I really don't know what they're supposed to do.

Re: Skins vs Bears postgame
If RGIII doesn't learn to slide, he's going to end up much like this kid.
![]() He took a wicked shot he had no business taking yesterday. I'm surprised he didn't have a concussion off it.

Re: Skins vs Bears postgame
He is definately doing better running out of bounds though, not trying to stretch for that last yard. His sliding sucks, but I think he is taking less hits per game then last year.

Re: Skins vs Bears postgame
lol that kid got lit up
Basically this team goes as far as Griffin can take em this yr. If we make the playoffs it will be pretty much mainly due to Griffin. Not a surprise of course but js.

Re: Skins vs Bears postgame
The hit from Tillman looked worse than it actually was.
Yeah I agree overall he's probably taking less hits in the open field compared to last year. |

Re: Skins vs Bears postgame
Those who say that RGIII is not a pocket passer NOW are correct. He stares down receivers and never gets far through his reads.
But those who say that he can grow into the role are correct, too. If Randall Cunningham could grow up to be a pocket passer, definitely so can RGIII, who is light years ahead of Cunningham in intelligence/skills.

Re: Skins vs Bears postgame
HTTR24/7 has posted some good breakdowns in the past of RG3 going through his progressions. So it's not like he can't or never has done it.
The plays where he appears to be staring down his WR are mostly those quick slant one read type plays off play-action. I think teams have just gotten better at defending those on us, like Briggs yesterday jumping into the throwing lane at the last second. |

Re: Skins vs Bears postgame
Rg3 will be fine and he's starting to scare Defenses like he did last yr. Teams just won't be able to handle our Offense with him running the ball, he's so dangerous back there and as we saw yesterday he made 2 great throws REED Fade and deep ball to AA. He's basically back

But in 1998 he led the Vikes to a new season record for points scored (breaking the record of the '83 Skins) and was primarily a pocket passer in doing so. Go back and watch tape of Cunningham throwing to Moss and Carter - he was primarily a pocket passer. My point was not to tout Cunningham - my point was that anything he could do, RGIII could do better.

Re: Skins vs Bears postgame
The Redskins better figure out their Special Teams before next week or Holliday will light them up. Peyton is going to be hard enough to deal with, we don't need Holliday scoring on a punt/KR as well.

Re: Skins vs Bears postgame
It's not just the special teams. The defense is still a joke. When Josh McCown of all people can come in and move the ball at will, you have problems. It's a sickening feeling that even with :45 left after the go-ahead TD, the Bears still had a chance to win the game.
I think some perspective is in order too. I know people hate realists but this is still a bad football team. The local media is drooling on about "progress" but really has there been much? Is the team, and Griffin "better" or are they taking advantage? If Oakland has Pryor in the lineup it's not out of order to say that the Redskins probably don't win that game...Flynn was terrible but the game was still close. In Dallas, people point out "progress" even though it was a two-TD loss. Dallas was missing their RB and had a patchwork defensive line, including losing their Pro Bowl star Ware early in the game. Yet the media here and most fans ignore that and go on about how the offense is "back". Yet even Dallas's backups were able to pressure the Redskins and hold them to 16 points overall. That's progress? Then yesterday. Don't even mention Cutler going down, cause McCown (an awful QB over the last few years) came in and torched the Redskins. But on defense the Bears were already injury-riddled..losing key members Helton and Jennings earlier in the year and were overall like 28th in the league. One of the announcers even jokingly said the Bears had some guys on the line who were meat-packers a couple weeks ago. Then they lost Briggs and Tillman etc for extended time. So yeah, the offense looked great against one of the worst and most injury-riddled defenses in the league. That's a good gauge that the offense is "back"? The Redskins were at home, had all the advantages (that onside kick was not offsides) and still barely scraped out a win. This is still like a 6-10 team at best. Yeah it was a win but I can't see how anyone is really that optimistic about it. |

It's all perspective I guess. People see what they want to see.
