Child, if you want to facepalm on a short yardage situation, facepalm on the play I just showed you. Same concept, just in case it eluded you.

I think a good humbling experience can be great for people. He was drafted partially on his high character and being coachable so based on that, Im not ready to give up on him.

The bottomline for me will be not winning the job coming into next season. No sense in trading him, you wont get anything for him.
I want him to stay and believe he has so much untapped potential, but he's had back to back coaches who have basically shown no faith in him.

I think the lack of redzone production skews fan perspective on our offense, but we have been a good offense, even with several stinker games (and 1 blowout the other way). All this with a below average RT, a 3 headed rotational QB system, and a TE that is out every other game.

It just seems to me that this has been a shakeout year. I was full of koolaid early on, but this year has been, like many first year coaches have, a year to sort out who Gruden will base his future on. My hopes are, like many others, he will fire Haslett, and get a real RT, and some safeties. Only time will tell.
Get out of here with your facts and stats backing up your claims. We don't tolerate yer kind round here.

Steve Young gave an absolutely awesome interview on the sports fix about his evolution from runner to pocket passer and how much work it took. He essentially said it is like going to law school or graduate school. He put in countless hours on his own, outside practice, and outside the organization learning football.

He said he relied on his speed and talent to get by without truly learning the game. Credited Shanny for tying his legs together during practice to develop his skills.

So much so that his reads and decisions became as instinctual as much as they were conscious decisions.

He said he wasn't hating on Robert with his earlier comments (sounded like it to me though) but challenging him. Young said there were less than a handful of QBs on the level he is discussing.

It would be a dream come true if Griffin would put in the kind of work that Young is talking about this off season. He has the brains and the arm but I don't believe he has the ability to do an honest self evaluation.

I really wouldn't mind being totally wrong on him.

Still cringe thinking about Gruden calling a pass on that 4th and short, fucking facepalm.

Oh your soooo short sighted. Its a passing league bro. Where have you been? Give the guy some time to make effin adjustments. Wow. Just wow.
Besides this our dang run game is not exactly non existent as you make it out to be.

Actually in Cinci his Bengals were near the top of the league each year in both rushes and rushing yards.

And, as CRedskinsRule so ably pointed out, we've put effort into running the ball this year. The perception that Gruden is overly pass-happy is just plain wrong, and the numbers show it.

If the pass on 4th and 1 had worked, and it could have, everyone would be hailing him as a genius today. It wasn't a bad play call, it was bad execution.

Steve Young was one of very few who made the transition into a QB first, over a runner. Randall Cunningham, who was a very good player before he went to Minnesota is maybe another one. Vince Young was a better college player than Griffin. Young won ROY but what happened after that? There are so many great college QB's that simply never made the jump.

To me the issue is Gruden. He wants to win now, run his offense and isn't patient enough to develop Griffin. Griffin may never develop and I'd say the chances are he never does. Griffin is probably the worst QB on the roster running this offense. What does that say that journeymen McCoy and 4th rounder Cousins runs the offense better than he does? It says he has a real long way to go and may never get there.

Re: The everything Gruden thread

I too feel that Gruden was making Griffin play his system as opposed to adapting to Griffin's strengths. That being said I felt Gruden wanted to hold Griffin out after the injury. Whether that was to give him time to heal or to develop the appropriate skills in practice I am not sure and regardless it never manifested that way.

Re: The everything Gruden thread

Good coaches adapt to their players strength's.....Gruden has not done this.... Not saying he should go but not giving him a free pass either.

Regardless what happens to him Haz must go and we must go back to the 4-3. The 3-4 has failed us. Most of our players would be better in a 4-3. Question is where to you play Kerrigan DE or LB or you could play him at both depending on the situation.. Rak - resign little more than vet min with incentives as a DE and if he doesn't accept let him walk....

OOOOOrrrrrrrr

Good coaches draft players in to their systems that fit. After having a few years....

It works both ways.

Well I asked in another thread but nobody said how much input Gruden had this offseason? Harder to judge without all the draft picks though.

Hold on just a second and I'll test out your "The Fan Base Is To Blame" theory.

Dear Dan Snyder: I say you should fire Jay Gruden because of the loss to the Colts.

Wait, Dan Snyder just responded.

Dear KI: **** you! I'm not firing anybody because some dumb ass fan said I should.

See?

Nobody said or implied the fanbase was to blame in any of this. What was simply said is Dan Snyder is very much like our fanbase.

1) He's irrational and makes hasty decisions
2) He doesn't understand how to run an organization
3) Ideas suggested generally end up a disaster
4) Always chasing the "big name"

Shannon Sharpe offers the ultimate RGIII take - The Washington Post

Very interesting.

So has RGIII been working as hard as we thought he has been?
