Here is some fuel for those in here who hate the whole concept of networking:

One important thing on Scot McCloughan -- picking Washington had much to do with his relationship with and trust in Skins prez Bruce Allen.

Rare optimism from JLC. Never thought I'd see the day this happened.
Why Scot McCloughan could be the GM to finally end Redskins insanity

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

the OTC article is junk. trade desean, force garcon to take a pay cut, cut bowen.

i mean, creating cap space is great and all, but if your team is worse off for it, or has to spend more money to replace those players, what's the point?

I absolutely missed the trade DJax, that's simply crazy talk.

Fair enough. The interesting part of the article to me involved the graphs. Why do we pay more than league average for both our OL and our DL yet regularly get beaten up front?

And, as for safety, obviously sometimes you get what you pay for.

Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM

really happy to hear that this deal is finalized. Honestly, I haven't been this fired up since Gibbs 2.0.

I remember the Beathard/Gibbs days...Bobby built the team and Joe coached the players.

They did not always see eye to eye, but the results spoke for themselves.

I would love for those glory days to start returning soon!

I know one thing for sure, we will get a better roster in no time flat.

Hail!

No one is signed past the 2017 season, woah. This roster will be flipped in no time.

Re: Scot McCloughan to be new Redskins GM

I am imagining the initial meeting with Scot and Bruce.

Bruce: "OK, here's where we are with our FAs, contracts, etc. We have a ton of $ tied up on our O-line and D-line, but we need to revamp them entirely. Sorry about that. Our best players probably need to have their contracts re-done, because they're pretty brutal in 2015. But don't worry -- I can handle that piece, and the silver lining? We don't have many of those guys. Wait, did I say not having more than a few real stars is a good thing? Hahahah. I guess that's your problem now -- good for me in negotiating contracts though."

Scot: [Stunned silence; reaches for a brewski....]

If there is a Warpath post of the day award, I would most definitely present it to you for damn near making me spit out beer all over my keyboard...

You're very kind. Sad truth is, this conversation could actually have happened.

One of my good friends, who was also cursed a Redskin fan by birth basically told him when we hire Scot something similar... I really do have more faith by this move than I have had in a long time.... I do hope this organization doesn't drive him to the sauce...

Agreed. If he performs nearly as well as he did in Seattle and SF, this may be one of the most significant developments in te franchise in decades. The guy is a real talent and could help get us on the right path. I am hopeful it all works out well.
