I dont know man, that is a loaded stance with so many variables. Is Haskins the guy? Will Guice stay healthy? Will McClaurin take a step back? Who is our Tight end? Is our O line capable? Is our secondary capable? Is Payne gonna bounce back? Is our mlb group decent? That is a whole lotta ifs. Id say we need at least 4-5 of those 8 questions do be a definitive yes for us to even sniff the playoffs. Namely Haskins and the O line. If those two areas crumble we are screwed. |

I think we will be better too. But 4-12 is better lol. Not a high bar there. If all those questions pan out in a positive way, and injuries aren’t a huge issue again than we make the playoffs. I could also see us with a top 5 pick again next year. Guess that’s why they play the game...we hope |

Re: The Redskins 2020 draft class
The only way this team makes the playoffs is if the NFC is garbage and I just don't see that happening. I think the team will be better than 2019 of course but I'd say 6-7 wins is about right

If we do sign a stop gap vet LT à la Donald Penn, I'm fine with our line. Wes Martin at LG looks good to me. Not sold on TE but I think it's one position you can do one season with a subpar TE group.

The Redskins 2020 draft class

Although if you have a quarterback who isn’t quite there yet, a sub par line, and say a rb that is oft injured TE becomes ultra important. He can become not only key in blocking schemes but a safety valve for a quarterback who is under duress. |

You factor in our odd two - Detroit and Carolina vs, GB/NO, Atl/Minn, Chi/TB and with any reasonable improvement, we come out ahead on those two games. So you are left with the 6 division games. Philly week 1 is awful but then we get giants, dallas, bye giants. That will be the critical stretch for division chances. Bottom line for me is that we need to see a lot of growth against the division opponents this year, and I expect RR to do that. |

But to me there's still a difference between important positions, and positions where a bad level of play just kills your ability to build anything. OL in general and LT in particular are of the latest.

The best thing about the skins, they are in the nfc East. We have a chance in this division

Re: The Redskins 2020 draft class
I'm thinking this is a season of "if's":
If the OL can gel then we have base for the offense. If a solid #2 & #3 can emerge from the receivers group then Haskins has options in the passing game. If one of the TE's (Moss?) can emerge as a reliable target Haskins has more options in the passing game. If Gibson is Thompson 2.0 or even McCaffery 2.0 then Haskins has even more options in the passing game. If Haskins is just a little improved on the end of last season we should be OK in the passing game. If a lot improved then who knows? If at least 2 of the backs step up this year to compliment/supplant AP then the running game should be much improved. If all of the above comes together then the O should at least be competitive. If CY is the phenom we expect/hope then the whole DL play should be improved. If the LB's can at least hold their own behind that DL (particularly in pass defense) then we should at least be competitive with our run defense and at least middling with pass. If the secondary can improve just a little and take advantage of good DL play, then overall pass D should be middling at least. If all that comes to pass we should have a good if not great D. If all of this happens (yeah I know, big if) then we should be at least competitive if not challenging for the division. I can't see all of the above not happening. If only some of it happens I say 8-10 wins. If all of it comes about then maybe 10+. Right nwo I say 8-8 is a fair expectation. |

No doubt LT > TE, I am just sayin that TE becomes more important with poor line play. Need that safety valve if the quarterback has no time... |

Re: The Redskins 2020 draft class
I was really worried about TE AND OT, but the team roster is not written in concrete yet. WE WILL ADD PLAYERS LATE IN THE PS.
I see Kyle Smith picking up at least a couple of TE/ WR/ OT castoffs from other teams as training camp (if there is one) and the preseason progress. I see us picking up some good players from teams that are over-stacked in certain positions. The Bears have 10 TE’s for instance - when they make their last cuts that’s when Kyle and Rivera will scoop up some decent players for one-year, low salary contracts. If they are a bust, no problem, as we’ll just dump them. But we will find at least a couple of players like Flowers was last year, who have a break out season, into the average or better level - as they try to stay in the NFL. The Redskins have a ton of cap that can move forward into next season. So I think this season, they will try some players who may not even be on the roster now, in short contracts- looking for some hidden diamonds that can be signed for longer contracts next year. I think the late PS pickups will do better than the UDFA and late draft picks. The Redskins will add 3-6 new players that are dropped by other teams, late in the PS. Especially in our weakest areas, like TE or OT. Some will be busts, but some will do far better that just being ST or third-string fodder. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: The Redskins 2020 draft class
I agree that we're probably not done at OL and TE. We need a couple of decent vets on 1 or 2 year contracts. Trading a late round pick for the right player would be fine with me.
