I know there is no chance of him coming back here, but if he did, would it be the only time in NFL history that a player drafted by an organization has played for the same team in separate stints?

Re: Haskins released

How much we pay a QB ? I happen to believe that with a Qb like Stafford and a solid draft (Wr, mlb, db, ) we can be a contender now ... look at Tampa and Brady .. we are in a similar situation.. we can win 10-11 games with a Good QB ..

Re: Haskins released

My 2 thoughts for why Fitzpatrick would not be a good fit is that he isnt a quick read/throw guy and he takes chances. With our D, we dont need to press press press on offense as its not a race to the first one to 30 points wins. We can win comfortably and consistently 24-13 vs 37-27. We value possessions, play strong D and we win.

Then I looked up his stats. Fitzpatrick is second in the league in time from snap to throw at 2.2 seconds, behind Big Bens 2.1.

I was a "no to fitz" person 5 mins ago and am now putting his name in the hat with the 15 other options we have.

Interesting plan C if we dont draft a 1st rounder or get a Stafford type guy.

I am probably just gun shy when it comes to drafting a QB based on history I know it needs to be done, I am also wary of giving up draft capital to trade for Ryan or Stafford.

Look at the accuracy %, bad throw % and then the air yards stats between Alex Smith and Fitzpatrick.

That should bring context as what’s being being asked of the QB. The air yards attempt/completions.

It’s really not a comparison, Fitzpatrick blows Alex Smith out the water

Honestly, both working with similar talent too with the pass catchers

so the same reason stafford wouldn't be a good fit?! . . . at least fitzpatrick would be cheaper in $$$ and wouldn't cost a pick like stafford would (multiple)

Re: Haskins released

You are right. He completely slipped my mind. I'm guessing on QB's it's not that common, but i could be wrong on that too!

Re: Haskins released

Had to look it up, but two notables are Fran Tarkenton had 2 stints with Minnesota, and Boomer Esiason two stints with Cincy

Re: Haskins released

All in on going after a QB in FA. Our Defense is good. Windows are short in the NFL without a HOF QB. Always build through the draft, but the time is now!!

Go all in to win in 2021!

Stafford is the prize. Having a defense and a running game is a big incentive for him to sign here. Go go go.

I can't do it. That would mean $52+ million tied up in the QB position for 2021 (unless you cut Alex or he retires), not to mention the draft capital and/or players it would take to trade for him.

Can't do it.
