Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
If Fossil is announced as HC tomorrow, it just might be the the lowest of the low in Redskins history. I might not watch another game until Snyder sells the team. Do the right thing, hire GW. Don't be a stupid F...!!!!!

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
I think Snyder is remembering what happened the last time Joe Gibbs retired and the then owner JKC went with the defensive coordinator who the players all loved and wanted to coach them for continuity...Remember Richie Petibon? 4-12 that next year... Snyder doesn't want a deja vu moment there I beleive......

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
Latest from JLC on Redskins Insider. Looks like this is gonna happen people.
Posted at 9:10 PM ET, 01/22/2008 Fassel and Rex Ryan Continues to look like a pair of former Ravens could be perched here in a matter of time. I keep hearing that Fassel is in a great position to get this job, and when it all hits the fan that former Baltimore DC Rex Ryan would replace Gregg Williams if it goes down this way. That is the hot rumor at the Senior Bowl, and Rex knows Jim and Vinny Cerrato has ties to Rex. Makes sense. So you would be looking at major overhauls to the staff. Snyder and Cerrato are mulling this over tonight but I would not be surprised to see someone get an offer Wed. At this point I am told the Redskins have still said nothing to Williams and the rest of the coaches and all signs pointing to Fassel. Snyder could always go the other way, and, this organization is capable of anything, but there is lots of angst among the players and coaches - especially those down at the Senior Bowl in Mobile.

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
I just want Williams to hang around. In fact I have no probelm with the Skins hiring Fassal. The guys solid as a head coach and if Williams were to stay around then I would love the hire.

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
Can someone send an e-mail to JLC and have him post a poll of who the fans want as HC (Fossil or GW) so Dan (Dumb Shit) Snyder can read what the fans want.

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
I've abstained from commenting on this up until now but I can't see how this makes any sense, since the players are so solidly in GW's corner. So much of the discontent in the locker room over the Snyder era has come from management's tendency to pay top dollar for outside guns while ignoring those within the organization - it seems that this is now being extended to the coaches too.
I think the Chargers this year proved that a talented team can win for anybody but I am still scratching my head here. I just fear that this comes down to Williams wanting to fundamentally alter the front office structure and Fassel contrarily being willing to play ball with the current set up. If Williams pushed too much for change in those four interviews I could see Daniel and Vincent talking themselves into just about anybody. |

I'm really aggravated right now. This whole situation is baffling. I just don't understand. According to PFT, most league sources thought this guy didn't have a prayer at another head coaching job. I mean, if he was even thought of as a remotely decent coach anymore, wouldn't he at least have been a position coach somewhere in the league this season? Meanwhile, my two closest friends are big Skins haters (NY natives, Giants/Jets/Yankee fans- I know), and I'm getting one text message after another totally mocking our situation. I feel like throwing my phone into a wall and following it with my head.

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
If we end up with Jim Fassel as HC and Rex Ryan as our defensive coordinator, then I'll feel pretty good about our coaching staff for the long term. Fassel is a good QB guy, and Ryan is one of the better defensive minds out there.
Of course, I'd feel good about our staff for the long term if it were Gregg Williams, Jerry Gray as DC, and Al Saunders as OC. In addition to the long term, it would feel pretty good for next season. Fassel is a solid coach in my opinion. Rex Ryan is a great DC. But I'll have a hard time expecting more than 8-8 in this upcoming transition year.

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
I'm hoping that this is just a lot of BS. How is this a good idea? And is Rex Ryan an upgrade? I could coach Lewis, McAlister, Landry and Reed and end up with a top ten D. It doesn't make sense. Hopefully, the scotch wears off on Danny tonight and he comes to his senses.

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
That latest JLC blog makes it pretty clear that Williams is probably out and in fact Snyder is going to overhaul the whole operation. I don't like it, but maybe it's because I think Williams is getting the shaft. If it's true that Williams and Cerrato don't get along then obviously Williams was basically outta here from the beginning.

Re: Fassel meets with Redskins over coaching vacancies
You know, if Ryan comes here and does well, he will be a head coach somewhere else next season. Just like Marvin Lewis. I cant believe Snyder would do this to Williams. He gave up several chances to be a head coach for him. We will never have continuity.

Both are solid choices. Again, I'd prefer Williams (mainly just so people would shut up already), but if we hire Fassel as our head coach, go back to a West Coast offense that Campbell is supposedly more comfortable in and restore our winning ways...well all these "the world is over" posters will look pretty dumb. This isn't Rich Kotite we're talking about. Let's give the team a chance
