I figured as much, but I do think my boy needs to really have a nice year in receiving this year. This is probably the wrong thread for this though.

I am glad Cooley has kept a low profile this offseason thus far. As one of the team leaders, what the Redskins are doing this offseason seems pretty objectionable, but good for the long term health of the franchise.

Let's get it straight...Jason Taylor said he did not like the Redskins in Cooley's blog.

Re: Jason Taylor Released

JT needed to go especially for 3.5 sacks with an 8.5 mil salary. It gives us 8.5 mil in cap to sign Evans, and Crowell (LB from Buffalo) to fill in as a 1-2 year starter. Then draft a OT at 13, but if Oher or Smith are gone we trade down and draft Alex Mack.

How do they do it? They do it by getting million dollar paychecks for playing a kids game for 5-6 months out of the year, that's how they do it. Duh!
As for Taylor, this looks more like they found an excuse to get rid of him and have been setting up another scenario, maybe having to do with trading up or down and are after somebody specific in the draft.

Re: Jason Taylor Released

I like the move. I've been hoping that they would go ahead and release him to use that money somewhere else.Well I knows this has been said but I think we should bring back Evans and Daniels. If Orakpo drops to us at 13 then we have the money to sign him. If not then we have a Run Stopping End at the position already.

Re: Jason Taylor Released

I tend to agree w/ the many posts saying we should sign Willis, who btw is the highest rated OT left in FA according to walterfootball.com. Willis started most of last season at RT and a few games at guard and only gave up 1.5 sacks... better than most of our line can say. Buges will do wonders w/ this kid so IMHO this is a no brainer... sign him. Evans/Daniels are the next order of business. I say give Evans a real contract and sign Daniels for the vet min. Hunter the Punter makes sense.

Where I'm unsure is LB. Honestly i doubt anybody out there can help us much. London wants us to grab Crowell, who is very talented, but there's no way London can know how deteriorated Crowell's knees are so there is a major risk factor. June is very smallish for an NFC East LB (part of why i think the Boley signing in NY was a little dumb). I actually think we should bring Marcus back for a 2 yr contract on the cheap and let him play WLB where he won't get stuck in coverage. Then, assuming we've got Willis, we take a LB in the draft.

... btw his name is Rey

I agree. I was excited to see what Taylor could do along side of Haynesworth, but it is not meant to be. Also, it sounds like we are already going to have a guy we will need to let freelance in Haynesworth. Allowing Taylor to freelance too would spell trouble.

So, with the cap room get:
Evans - 1.5 mil
Daniels - 1.2 mil
Kendall - 1.5 mil
Crowell - ? (address LB)
Willis - ? (address OT)
Vet Receiver
Draft OT or LB 1st

Re: Jason Taylor Released

..something just smells fishy here. the timing of this cut is just very strange to me and then the reasoning? They are going to make another splash here somehow... Peppers.?
The FO may copy the giants success and make the DL the strength and we know how Danny likes things in excess so Peppers and Haynesworth should keep him in the headlines.

We never should have made the deal for Jason Taylor. Parcells stuck it in us. And by "us" I mean Snyderatto. Snyderattooooooooooooo!

Re: Jason Taylor Released

Some talk now of maybe Marcus Washington coming back, I'd be surprised though.I think Daniels will be back, but that was probably going to happen anyway. And maybe Evans comes back as well? I think a lot will depend on whether the 49ers actually sign Kurt Warner. Though they clearly have the cap room to sign both.

I'd love for us to do the following. Sign Hunter Smith. Trade down and get Tyson Jackson and Duke Robinson/Eben Britton and then Marcus Freeman in the 3rd (or get Matthews or Sintim instead of Robinson/Britton and then maybe Fulton in the 3rd.

Re: Jason Taylor Released

Why all the suspicion surrounding Peppers. The guy adamantly said he wanted to play in the 3-4 scheme... that would be the worst the FO could make.

And he clearly has certain teams in mind, and we're not one of them.
