He was good enough to shine enough during the season to be the Heisman runner-up, mostly because of the INTs. However, I was looking for more from him against Alabama and I didn't see him have much of an impact at all...a few tackles, but much like the rest of that defense - he got dominated.

No Thanks. I am sure there are better options out there. Heisman

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects

Anyone notice Nick Florence from Baylor this year performing, statistically, very comparably to RGIII in the Art Briles' offense?

RGIII in 2011:
291 comp - 402 att, 4,293 yds, 37 TD, 6 INT
179 rushes, 699 yds, 3.9 avg, 10 TD

Florence in 2012:
286 comp - 484 att, 4,309 yds, 33 TD, 13 INT
139 rushes, 568 yds, 4.1 avg, 10 TD

Florence is supposed to be a 6th - 7th round pick (if that)... just saying... a flier as a back-up, back-up plan? (Ha)

Seriously though, those numbers aren't strikingly different... and if we start 2013 with Cousins under center while RGIII is still healing... we will need a 2nd string, preferably not Grossman.

I'm not saying this is the best use of one of our late round picks... but the dude learned under RGIII once before...

Yes, yes I do.

I think he will be good. He might not be the next Ray Lewis but still a good solid Linebacker, like Sean Lee from the Cowboys, or James Laurinaitis from the Rams, I thought he would show up against Alabama but really only two players showed up for Notre Dame during that game at all, Nix the nosetackle had a good game, won some battles against Barret Jones, and Eifert.

But Te'o will be a solid starter, still he might end up developing into something better because the man has heart.

I don't know about that. Te'o has a more better upside than Derek Smith....I'd say he's more in the mold of Harry Carson or Ray Nitschke in terms of potential....if he's coached up and fits in the right defense.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects

To Los pandas point, I'm not going to agree or disagree with you. But ill say this; coming out of high school manti was highly touted. He played in the Hawaii vs land game and looked ok. I thought he was overrated. I then followed him slowly throughout his notre dame career and watched him get better and better. Then this game happened and I'm there thinking how the hell can the same guy whose making picks left and right and making big hits look like a division 3 LB?!? I think if the right team gets him(steelers, ravens) hell be good.

As to Hail to the Redskins post, I agree I would get Florence too because of his familiarity with rg3 and the offense. Hell you may not even need to give up a pick for him.

Also heres a good list of ''under the radar guys'' from SI

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects

the derek smith comparison was in regards to how his career pans out, not his specific skill set, per se.

something like:
play 11+ years
have 160+ career starts
contribute to team w/o standing out in any area
earn trips to 0 pro bowls

i don't see much more than that in te'o's future, but it's not like that's a failure by any stretch. just don't expect him to be like patrick willis, giving you that kind of roi on your 1st round investment.

^^^ WTF??

Don't know anything about the guy, don't really follow college ball, but, really, this is pretty high on the all time douchebaggery list. From the article, his parents were in on it too.

Notre Dame Statement: Manti Te’o

On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te’o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators.

In an interview with SI he told the story of the week his girlfriend and Grandmother died and how he used that as motivation for the rest of the season. It eventually became part of his Heisman narrative.

Deadspin is now saying the girlfriend never existed. Te'o is now saying he was the victim of a hoax, in which case the explanation released by the Te'o family is very......just....I. Keep in mind though this is just from scanning articles about a story I learned no less then 10 minutes ago.

I imagine this will give you the clarity you seek.

he's saying that he considered her to be his gf, but she was using a fake idenitity? is he trying to say that this girl faked her own death and that for all he knew, she was dead?
