Entirely as an aside (let's face it, there's nothing uplifting about our team) -- I like these: Navy Football Team to Wear Custom Uniforms for Army Match-up « CBS DC

But Jay, your success as a head coach in this league depends on whether you can get performance from Robert and the rest of the team. Robert, your ability to secure a second contract in this league depends on your ability to take coaching and improve, because you've been terrible.

Your wagons are hitched together. And my wagon is hitched to both of yours. Now go back to the sandbox and learn how to get along, get this thing turned in the right direction, or you'll both be moving on from these contracts. If you want other teams to look at you as worthy of a future big contract, you'll need to do this together.

You need each other or the world will view you both separately as failures.
I would love for this to happen! But in the world of guaranteed contracts, Gruden could easily say, "It's my way. Don't like it, fire me so I can collect!" I don't suppose there is a clause in Gruden's contract that says if the 'skins have the same record as the previous year, the contract is null and void? I seriously think the front office brass needs to seriously consider that as an opt out option in future contracts!

Then he shouldn't have taken the job.

It's not a real Redskins season unless there is more drama than wins.

Gruden has actually PLAYED the position. Doesn't make much sense for anyone to tell him what QB to play. What a real leader would do is tell the coach to play whomever gives the team the best chance to win. If that's Griffin, by all means play him. If it's not, sit him on the bench or trade him. At this point, or next year, there needs to be competition for the position and may the best man win.

Would you have turned down the sweet contract he was given? I doubt it.

Detroit had much more talent then the Skins do right now. And their owner isn't crazy. That was a solid job. And Pettine wasn't on anybody else's wish list. In fact I think he was Cleveland's 4th or 5th choice.

And yet you still didn't answer my question, who do you want that you think will take the job? Because I think the lot of you don't want to name a guy so you can rip that same guy when he doesn't turn this mess around.

Re: RG3 and Gruden?

There's only 32 of these jobs in the world. There's always someone out there willing to take on an exclusive job at $5m or more per year.

Ya, but will they be any better than Gruden? Sometimes is the job and not the employee.

Re: RG3 and Gruden?

My fantasy is Bill Cowher. I would love to see him coach the Redskins. I cannot imagine he'd want to deal with the insanity that is this franchise, but he'd crack some skulls and get results, man. Sigh -- won't ever happen.
