In that case why didn't we run the two most effective plays?

Play 1: Noseguard stunts right to shoot the A Gap (Down then Right)

Play 2: ILB litterally runs right into back of Noseguard and their combined strength pancakes the Center which leads to a race to the QB between the ILB and Nose Guard

GREATEST GAME EVER!!!

If A.J.Smith gets put in charge of personnel then the DC could very well be Wade Phillips......

My only complaint with Wade Phillips is that he's about 67. Obviously not going to be the long term answer.

Well. I would imagine he could go 3 years which is as long-term as you get for a top DC in this league. My biggest fear is he would do well and we would put him as head coach after 2.

As someone mentioned in another thread Dick LeBeau is 77 and still going strong. Phillips could have another 3-5 years left in him easy.

Re: New Defensive Coordinator 2015

Who can possibly see past three years when looking at a coaching horizon anyway? The only way in the NFL you earn a longer horizon than that is if you run deep into the playoffs.

Please, please, I beg us to have those kinds of problems.

Things may be lining up nicely.

If Wade Phillips is hired, he could be a valuable mentor to our young HC as well as a top-notch DC.

Wade Phillips Set To Interview For Redskins Defensive Coordinator Job Next Week - Hogs Haven

The only thing that gives me pause is the fact that our FO made the decision. Other than that I think it's a great idea.

I guess all the Wade Phillips mancrushers didn't witness the Dallas debacle he nicely orchestrated. They ran through him like shit through a goose. That team quit on him worse than I have ever seen. Nice man have all the respect for him in the world and his dad but I had rather see someone else get a shot to make a name. Hiring him would be putting a band aid on a bullet wound. jmho

He looks like he eats a lot more fried food than LeBeau.

Wade Phillips as head coach is a different situation as Wade Phillips as DC. He definitely loses the team as a head coach, but I think his defenses generally play hard and consistent.

I don't get the angst from some. Sure if you interview a solid young DC candidate and he wows you then sign him, but if you get a shot at a proven coach who gives our defense a chance to excel than why not talk to him?
