Re: East champs!!! You like that???!!!
I hope Jerry keeps Garrett -- I don't think the guy is a particularly effective coach. Not Rich Kotite bad, of course, but rather meh. Let Dallas build around that.
As for Coughlin, I have a ton of respect for him, and while his team didn't perform all that well, I think the personnel issues are the biggest problem, and that ought to be on Reese. Not getting help last offseason for a bad defense seemed really foolish -- put it this way, they started Brandon Merriweather and, later in the season, EJ Biggers in the secondary. So castoffs from our porous secondary last season were contributors for the NYG. Just really bad decision-making there. And not doing anything about the aging O-line, sagging running game. Coughlin really didn't have a lot to work with, other than ELi and Beckham, in my view. If Coughlin is fired or if he "retires," the Giants will have trouble replacing him with as good a coach and person.

Yeah. I think you are downplaying the way the Giants lost so many of their games this year though. Countless mind numbing decisions in the final minutes. That has too much to do with coaching to blame it all on personnel. Either way would you agree Reese has to go? |

This is a great source for contracts NFL Salary Rankings | Spotrac This year Pot Roast is the 18th highest paid DT/NT in the league...reasonable. McC told him if he shows results he will pay him...this year started slow, but he has been great the second half of the year. I def think add a weight clause, work out bonus and game/snap incentive could be smart, but I don't think a massive salary bump is coming...but if we gave him a raise to 6.0 to 6.5 million per on a 2-3 year deal it works in our favor. NT/DT are really hard to find

Dallas has a better O-line, better D-line, comparable QB (Eli and Romo both can be dominant, and both can throw 4 picks on occasion), comparable WRs (although I would probably give the Giants the nod there as I think ODB is better than Dez), comparable RBs (neither team in great shape on that), and comparable on special teams (with Dallas getting the slight nod because their kicker is better). But given the importance of winning at the line of scrimmage, I would say Dallas has better personnel, and would be a better situation for a new coach (at least initially). The GM situations are both bad. At least the NYG can improve there because the owner isn't also the GM.

I think people are overestimating the value of a 2 down player with Knighton. Where was the big $ offer for him last year? It never happened and he came here on a reasonable deal, which he will likely have to take again next year. |

as far as his value for next year, i don't know who else is available yet, and that affects the price, as well as what he's asking for. If someone offers him too much (beyond what is reasonable to match) then we move on, if not, then we tender an offer. it's hard to say anyone that isn't under contract is "definitely" going to be back, cause things happen. I would like him back, and i would like goldson back, but if goldson refuses to come back for less than the $8m base salary on the books for 2016, then it's probably time to look elsewhere. overpaying any player now hurts your ability to keep good players later. guys like djax and cousins are going to need money, and frankly, they're more important. |

He's a 2 down player in defensive theory and in reality. Even if they get 10 yards on 2nd down he has to come out because he is so winded. TK is an awesome leader, great influence in the locker room. I don't want to see him go, but have been kinda miffed at him all year over his weight and conditioning. The dude could be a force if he would control his diet a little more.

For years there has been the rumor that the only job Bill Cowher would come out of retirement for is the Giants so who knows

It's been nine years since Cowher coached a game.
... just saying.

Re: East champs!!! You like that???!!!
One name that some teams may consider for coaching if not this year, most likely next year.
Washington Redskins: Sean McVay
