Re: 2023 Conference Championship Round Thread
To be fair SF was on their 4th String QB! Lmao you ain’t beating anyone like that. Also Jimmy G and Lance clowning on the sideline is a very bad look. Especially for Lance. That kid will be. A bust

The way the Eagles were playing Purdy or No Purdy, they weren’t gonna win.

Its literally JG smiling and Lance next to him, did everyone want them crying? there was still a lot of football to be played at that point. I could see if they were laughing at the end of the Bengals game and they were Bengals players, folks should be like WTF. The announcers literally later in the game were parsing Kettle for keeping it light and cheering other players up to try to keep spirits high as the niners fought back. Good grief Charlie Brown folks take this shit way too serious.

Seriously the Eagles are good but not nearly as good as they look on the easiest road ever to a Superbowl. Giants and a team with literally no quarterback. Chiefs gonna stick their dicks in the dirt. |

Re: 2023 Conference Championship Round Thread
They'll need a better game from Hurts to have a chance to beat KC. He was pretty awful if you ask me. He would have had less than 100 yards passing if it weren't for that catch that wasn't actually a catch. He was missing dudes all night.
Give their defense credit though - they were in the backfield a lot and knocked both QBs out of the game - which was the difference. I know Philly ran the ball better than most expected, but they won the game because of their defense who had the luxury of staying fresh. SF had only three drives that totaled more than 20 yards. That's what happens when you are on your 4th QB... I'm fairly confident SF wins the game if Purdy doesn't get hurt. At the very least it would have been a much more competitive game. He was 4-4 to start the game, and did nothing in the previous several weeks to give anyone the idea he couldn't do it. I actually didn't even enjoy watching this game. SF became truly one dimensional and you don't have a chance in the conference championship if you can't throw the ball at all. |

Hurts is the prime example of a System QB

49ers with some incredibly back luck with QB injuries this year. The fact they got to the championship game with a 3rd string Mr. Irrelevant is pretty amazing.

I don't know man, the Iggles just dropped 69 points (giggity) in two playoff games, they see pretty legit. I'm pretty sure they win that game with a healthy Purdy or Jimmy G.

Re: 2023 Conference Championship Round Thread
And good of that system to adjust to their players. Something I feel was never done here, and this is why I'm completely fine with Scott being let go.
Pete Carroll just had a playoff season with Geno freaking Smith. I'm sick of OC/coaches with our team, who just want to stick to their plan no matter what. All I want in an OC is to come in, and develop a plan for the personnel that we have, especially at QB.

Not saying you're wrong . I think a better example of a system QB is Geno Smith.

It is so en vogue now a days to just blame OCs and not the talent on the field. It's like the Staples Easy Button, when in reality its a synergy of the OC and the offensive talent. You think if Bieniemy came here TH suddenly become Mahomes? Scott had less to work with at QB this season then Kyle S.

I'm not advocating for a single OC. I'm just tired of seeing the same story with this team. Coaching staff comes in (Jay Gruden, Scott Turner, etc., etc.) and want to throw the ball despite the fact that they have a combination of crappy offensive line, bad QB, and/or no receivers (we have receivers now, but we used to not have any). OC is not the only reason we didn't make the playoffs. Personnel has been a big reason, but we've always had a meddlesome owner that has in some way, shape, or form influenced the QB position. And my hope is that a Snyder-free offseason can get us some good/better players and help us get some stability in that area.

I like Purdy and I think he has a promising future, but he faced a strong defense that hit him and took him out of the game. It is no fluke or weak schedule that the Eagles had 70 sacks this season. Just two shy of the vaunted 84 Bears defense All Time NFL season record of 72. It is no fluke that they got to the 49ers Qb's. Injuries are part of the game and both QB's in the Super Bowl are playing through injuries. It will be interesting to see if either will be hit enough to where it will change the outcome of the game. I hope not...but both (ankle & Shoulder) are injured. It is part of the game. |
