Re: Lavar Gone
if he were healthy it would have been a bit different. An injured LB at 12mill that' a bit media whiny and such though is a harder sell...

Re: Lavar Gone
If anyone comes across an interview with Lavar please post it. I'm interested to see what kind of bs he tells the media now regarding his decision.

Re: Lavar Gone
I don't care about the money, the difficult relationships or any of that other stuff that was going on. All I know is that Lavar belongs in Washington. The dude is a Redskin through and through. Seeing him wear ANY other uniform will just leave an empty feeling. Sort of like when Art Monk left and went to the Jets and then a year in Philly. It just didn't feel right.

Re: Lavar Gone
No big surprise here, sucks to see him go but we needed the cap room and Williams proved that he didn't need him to have a dominating D.

Re: Lavar Gone
“it did not take money out of my bank account to be free. It was a bonus owed to me in a latter year. I didn’t take money out the bank for them to release me”
this is the thing that should worry you if he actually didn't gave back part of the bonus the NFL won't approve the cap relief. peter King "I think just for the sake of insuring trust in the salary cap from some skeptical front offices, the league needs to make sure LaVar Arrington is really going to forego the $4 million in guaranteed money to get his freedom now. Not saying it didn't happen, but I am saying with all the money the Redskins have to spare and how convenient it was that the team could find this money after months of hand-wringing over the Arrington deal, the league needs to double check that the accounting of this is clean. Assuming Arrington did give the money back, it's a smart move on his part to get his freedom now instead of in June or July. And I think it's a good example of cutting one's losses. The Redskins and Arrington were never going to be happy together, even though he loves the city and the people there." |

Re: Lavar Gone
Does anyone else find the description of the Lavar transaction as him "buying his freedom" a poor choice of phrasing? I'm not the politically correct type but it kind of jumps out at me. Maybe I'm off base but the media is usually so quick to jump on people for this sort of thing.

Re: Lavar Gone
yah lavar said that there was no money that he gave them. He just took away a bonus he was owed later. He said it wasn't like he came with a check or with 4 million in cash.

Re: Lavar Gone
In that interview Lavar said it was like "russian roulette" w/the coaches & this staff was the only one that he had a problem with. Ask Marvin Lewis about that.
Maybe this was the only staff that truly disciplined him for his mistakes. even pros can go through a career getting away w/what they want because of their talent, until a strong staff steps up. |

Re: Lavar Gone
LaVar said "I want to come back and walk in FedEx Field once a year." Now that sounds personal! I'm pretty sure he'll sign with the Giants as they have depleted LB core.
