Re: Jason Taylor Released

honestly i dont want daniels back. he will be 36 in this season, plus coming off a serious injury, his 2nd since he came to the redskins. re-sign evans and look for another DE through the draft or FA

Right. So again why the suspicion he is the target?

So, with the cap room get:
Evans - 1.5 mil
Daniels - 1.2 mil
Kendall - 1.5 mil
Crowell - ? (address LB)
Willis - ? (address OT)
Vet Receiver
Draft OT or LB 1st
If one of our goals is to get younger and more explosive why would we bring back a 30 year old DE (Evans), a 36 year old DE (Daniels) and a 35 year old G (Kendall) plus a LB coming off a major knee injury?

Because we are the Redskins

Well if whoever proposed getting all these all players yes, but otherwise this whole offseason we've been getting young players. So hopefully they continue this trend.

Re: Jason Taylor Released

...well it was also stated that of the 4 teams Peppers wanted to play for 3 of the 4 teams were in the NFC east. Only 1 team here plays a 3-4 so i dont know how true that statement was to begin with. Dallas is dealing with Ware's contract already plus just signed old bum ass Brooking. The Giants just signed 3 new defensive players to an already stacked D... and the Eagles...well they dont even know what they are doing...see Housh... they normally stick to the draft. That leaves 1 big pocket owner who just cleared 8 million off his cap and a major need at DE....hmmmmm

I think we need to focus on the draft. Id like to see us release Betts in order to free up room to bring in a back that could offset Portis. Betts has the same running style as Portis, we need a back with big play ability.

Re: Jason Taylor Released

My first priority would be to sign Crowell especially if Fletcher told the FO he is a good player and he's 27. He can be a 1-2 year starter and if his knees hold up we can think about giving him a long term deal, but I would give him a 2 yr 4 million dollar deal w/ incentives (staying healthy). I agree with most of you guys about signing Willis, and drafting Orakpo and make him our DE.

Re: Jason Taylor Released

This was a surprise, I would have thought he would at least play one more year. What a f'ing waste of a draft pick.

Re: Jason Taylor Released

It'd be kind of ironic if the Bucs pass on Crowell in order to sign Jason Taylor and then we swoop in and get Crowell.

Two draft picks...

I am starting to really get pissed over this.

I think you can make the argument that even after adding Haynesworth, Hall and Dockery that we aren't any better than our opening day roster last year now that we have lost Taylor, Springs and Washington (also assuming that Kendall is gone).

A whole lot of money spent and nothing to show for it...

I'm willing to take the risk WaldSkins, and if he doesn't work out we don't take a cap hit. I see this as a low risk/high reward deal. He can play all the LB positions and he's still 27. I would then sign Willis and then take Orakpo at 13.
