Yeah rumors are Colt is the actual backup so wtf does Jay even mean here? I think he really doesn't care for rookie Qbs and is hell bent on starting DH

Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
He can work on his footwork in practice, he also was too reckless in pre season when it came to protecting himself. The later gets him on I.R. the way the offensive line is now. The Redskins are averaging less than 3 yards a carry and under 50 yards a game rushing. The defense is terrible. Right now isn't the time to put what you hope is the future of the franchise in at QB, especially one with only a year of college starts under his belt.

He will get starts, looking at schedule and this shit show I really believe having him prep with the ones during the bye week is the best bet. Start him now, he then gets destroyed by the Pats. Start him for the Dolphins game, he then immediately has a short week where the team has to partially install the Vikes game plan while prepping for the 49ers. Both are really good defenses. Waiting until the bye week so he has 2 weeks to prep for the Jets makes so much sense to me. 7 games he would get to start if they until the bye. Putting him before then seems knee jerk and potentially long term damaging. |

Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
i just want him in so gruden can shut the fuck up about fucking colt mccoy. and of course so he gets experience but who knows what will happen. if he gets destroyed by the pats (who doesnt?) so what? - take your lumps, build your character or if ya cant? maybe youre in the wrong profession. of course Im speaking mentally, not physically - dont wish the kid to get hurt never that!

Re: How Long Will Jay Gruden Last This Season as Head Coach?
In March, this is what Jay Gruden said about drafting a QB at 15:
"There is no developmental process here. This is not Triple-A baseball, we’re not trying to develop a pitcher here."

Whether or not this happens exactly as described, there is truth here. JG knows by now that he will not be riding into the future with Haskins, and he also knows that 6 years of trying to operate under BA and DS are more than any human can tolerate. His middle fingers are cocked and ready to fire. I feel for him, even though he’s a mediocre HC.

JG knows he wont be coaching Haskins next year and because of that he can resist the pressure from DS & BA to put him in there. JG knows with the O-line and the rest of the offense being bad he will get killed in there. I think on some level JG is telling himself that he isn't going to be the one who ruins this kid's career by playing him when he's obviously not ready. |
