The 22 lawsuits are still pending. But that a grand jury returned no criminal charges is a very significant development, and presumably a big step towards Texans trading him and Watson returning to the NFL.

The NFL's own investigation into the Watson allegations remains open. League investigators have spoken with at least 10 of the women who accused Watson of sexual misconduct, but have not yet spoken with Watson.

NFL discipline could come at the conclusion of the league's investigation --- and Goodell has suspended multiple players before absent criminal charges -- but for now we should not expect any changes to Watson's status. He is eligible to be traded, practice and, as of now, play.
