I'm guessing he's going to take a shot on Aiyuk. I'm torn on that one.
I'd rather have Jennings, I think. Aiyuk's injury was really significant, and I don't love the antics with the 49ers.

Def like adding pieces at each level on the defense. Always gonna be a wait and see but these moves are checking out and boxes so far.

As a Wisconsin alum I absolutely love the Chenal signing.

I’m not buying the narrative players don’t want to be here. The raiders and titans have been most active in FA and there is no way anyone is saying “a division with chargers, broncos and chiefs? This division is ours!”

There’s nothing to it. The chicken littles of the world have invented that bogus narrative.

Re: 2026 NFL Free Agency Thread

I think some people forget that we're competing with 31 other teams here and some of those teams were more successful last year, and aside from 2 years ago, we've been largely unsuccessful as long as some of these guys have been alive. We're middle of the pack right now, but generally on the rise. But we're not a top tier team with real SB prospects (yet), so some players are going to chase their dream now while in their prime. Others are going to maybe be more longsighted.

This is why we should be building primarily through the draft. Lock in a core of youth and let the other teams fight over most of the 27yo+ FA's. While the last 2 years made sense as a strategy given where we were (thank you Ron), I'm hopeful AP avoids win now trades and too much spending on older FA's, and really nails the draft. So far, I think, so good.

This is a great move! He was generating pressure every game for the Pats in the postseason.

It wouldn't be the worst idea, but if we don't grab a S or 2 this week, I'd be leaning more towards Downs. All but frees up the rest of the draft to go O.

Plus there's time to sign another RB and/or re-sign McNichols, though neither would rule out Love as having potentially one of the best RB's in the league is enticing.

There's also the WR question. Might put Tate in contention. Again, further FA signings are going to reveal if this is more or less likely.

What a great position to be in, potentially there could be 3 guys available at #7 who are all #1 in their respective position groups.

I think we are signing Ayuk, once he’s released at 4pm. I can see them bringing back Deebo.

Suggestions the 49ers may not release him and hold out for a draft day trade.

They probably going to go scorched earth on his ass and he deserves EVERY bit of it too. Wait till after the draft and into June before finally releasing him. By then, most teams already got their pieces in place and the big money is already dried up.

It's what I would do. Got to set an example.
