Why shouldn't suicides be counted? Research has shown that the removal of gun access from people with suicidal ideation has a decrease in number of attempted suicides and attempted suicides. 50% of suicides are impulsive decisions removing that opportunity for impulse saves lives.

Florida has a higher percentage of the groups (over 45) that commit suicide (until very recently the two highest levels were in those groups (last couple of years 25-34 has spiked). So suicides do skew their statistics. But, yes I think suicides should be considered in discussions.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A shooting in Gainesville left two people dead early Thursday morning and a third person wounded.

At around 1:45 a.m., the Combined Communication Center received an emergency call where the caller said he had been shot. The initial caller was taken to the hospital.

According to the Gainesville Police Department, multiple officers arrived at the area of 200 Northwest 3rd Avenue when they tactically advanced to a residence. Officers discovered that a male victim was dead on the ground from a gunshot wound.

TAMPA, Fla. - Two people were inured in a shooting outside an Amazon facility in Hillsborough County Wednesday evening, deputies said, adding that they are searching for two suspects.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said they responded to a shooting near the Amazon warehouse at the intersection Hillsborough Avenue and Old Harney Road. Based on preliminary evidence, it appears that a large group of people were gathered at the location when an altercation occurred and shots were fired. POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A man was taken to a hospital Thursday morning after he was shot while driving on Interstate 95 in northern Broward County, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

The shooting occurred about 3:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-95 near Sample Road in Pompano Beach.

And of course one raised that the only reason little was done (I dispute this say we don't know all of what was done). What does the board think is appropriate? punishment?
My argument is that age matters (he is still only 14). One of the guys doesn't think age should ever matter (he agreed with example of a separate case of a DA pushing to prosecute an 8 year old as an adult).

The kid was arrested and mom plans to press charges, so that’s good. I think we need to focus more in the school problem or there were adults on the bus who didn’t stop it. If folks at the school are not protecting kids or removing the trash like this 14 year from the school, then people should lose there jobs.

Huge difference btw 9 and 14, huge difference btw boy and girl.

14 year olds should absolutely be referred to juvie here. There nothing will happen, there is no jail time for juvies but they do have to complete conditions and are monitored.

14 year old fucks up some more, he can go stand in a long line of dumb teens who dont graduate High School and go straight to jail. When he is in his mid 40s he can look through his little tiny thin rectangle window and watch as his classmate drive by drinking their starbucks going to and from work.

This is beyond a just internal school discipline imo. if it was 14 year old boy vs 14 year old boy = keep it in school.

Of course here in Richmond which holds some of the worst schools in the state…they are extremely dangerous and school board is in favor of not disciplining students…instead letting the trash that shows up (over 20 percent are chronically absent) keeps the schools feel unsafe which recent surveys of teachers and school bodies show.
