Just a thought....
Plenty of teams do it, not sure what the NFL could really do. How do you censor what titles teams give out?

You're right - my point is it allows their current teams to block, bargain, deal... and it is not a cheap ($ wise or draft pick wise) option if the current teams do not want it to be.

Know what I mean?

The NFL is quite aware of the games that teams play with job titles and I really don't think they feel it's a big issue. In the end it helps coaches get promoted.

I think every thread going right now could be paused with this phrase, and we've all heard it from an employer before:

"We'll get back to you when we know something - no need to call us, we'll call you. Not sure when we'll know, we just will and when that time comes, we'll let you know.
Have a good day!"

Look, the 12thMans and Schneeds of this site who present valid arguments about their concerns-I have the utmost respect for them. Others who say stupid shit like "Danny needs to sell the team" "I'm getting rid of all my Redskins stuff" "I'll never watch another game" and so on-those people deserve to be mocked, ridiculed, and scorned. To the fullest extent. They don't need my respect of course, but if they're expecting it then they're certainly not going to get it with posts like that.

I think I've been pretty clear in saying Fassel is not my top choice. Neither is Williams really.

But what I've been saying (and I think others as well) is that a) no decision has been officially made so quit crying and b) why can't we see how everything plays out first (staff, roster) and make a more informed decision maybe sometime in the spring?

On another note. When I hear the Sean Taylor argument, while I understand it sometimes I can't help but relate it to when people ask "Why Giuliani?" and the answer is just "9/11"
Nice post.

Saying you'll abandon the team if such and such happens is a ridiculous emotional reaction. When the season comes back around, not a single person here will be rooting against the Fassel-led Redskins.

This site is for knowledgeable discussion, let's take a cerebral approach. There are valid points to be made for Fassel, and valid ones against him. Same for Williams. So let's discuss, but making statements like "I quit the Redskins" is absurd and just clutters the board.

Besides, nobody knows what the hell's going to happen. Fassel could be the next Bill Belichick for all we know. So could GW.

Let's discuss it and debate it intelligently.

Just curious...maybe I missed something here but who is saying they will abandon the team?

I hope we NEVER have the next Belichick. His win and loss record can never make up for the fact he's a total jackass.

I don't believe that for a second (unless it turns out that he's committed serious crimes against humanity)
I have friends and relatives who are jackasses. If they weren't either my friend or my relative I would probably hate them; but since I do have a relationship with them for whatever reason I can look past their faults.

I think that's how it would be with a winning HC, unless he did some serious OJ/Chris Beniot type stuff.

Re: Coaching Rumor on SportsTalk 980

does anyone remember the source of the Brunell Seattle trade rumor at the beginning of the season?

Is it the same source of this rumor?
I'd like to know who is a dependable source and who is not.

While many people are saying they don't want it to be Fassel or Williams, who out there would you REALLY want that's available right now?

I know that Richards (NE OC) said that he does not want to interview for head jobs, but it is atleast worth looking at after the Super Bowl. I know he has talent, but at 31 he has the best offense ever in the NFL. Keeping Moss happy, Maroney happy with barely any touches and Stallworth has even been quiet considering he is non-existent in the offense. Snyder will throw him the money we know that!

Boswell said what I didn't but wanted to.
