Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Incorrect. They traded their 06 1st rounder & a 3rd rounder for Denver's 05 1st rounder. The net loss was only a 3rd round pick. Best move of Joe Gibbs II IMO.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
That is not what I remember. They swaped first round picks in 2005 and got our first round draft choice in 2006. net loss was at least a first rounder

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
Okay, well, you're wrong, because we drafted Carlos Rogers in 2005. But hey, why does that even matter? If you say the net loss was a first round draft pick, why should reality have any baring on that notion?

Here is a part of JLC Insider: "If the Skins make a trade for picks only, and Denver does not want Jason Campbell (and the delay in the trade has led several executives to assume that is the case), then the trade value for the quarterback will drop more. The Skins were seeking a second-rounder for Campbell (they dealt multiple picks in order to move up in the draft and take him in 2005) but two executives said that if the Skins are stuck with Cutler and Campbell, they may have to settle for a third or worse. No one would be rushing to help alleviate Washington's problems now, and the execs said it would be silly for a club to go ahead and trade a second for Campbell, given the uncertainty with the Cutler deal." |

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
The night before FA opened, I wondered if something would happen. I woke up, turned on Mike and Mike wondering where AH went. Yes I was thrilled to hear he was coming here.
Now, tonight, I go to bed PRAYING that tomorrow morning Mike and Mike are discussing the Final 4, Stallworth, Moats officer story, ANYTHING but a Headline involving the Redskins. Please make this story go away!!! |

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I'm trying to think, given the speculation from JLC, that we're trying to get a 2nd for Campbell so that we could give up even more for Cutler than anyone else would -- because remember, if they don't want Campbell to be part of the deal, we have to outbid a bunch of teams who don't trade away their draft picks -- if Cutler was say, Peyton Manning, or someone who would actually be a big upgrade on Campbell, would we even be getting fair value for all those picks? How much better can a team get by improving a non-issue?
The fact that Cutler isn't special really only proves Snyder doesn't know what he's doing. The impressive think is that he thinks that ANY QB in the NFL makes us an instant SB contender, much less a guy who has NEVER posted a 90.0 QB rating.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
I suppose we could we could trade Carlos Rogers in the Cutler deal, which would be beneficial in performing a bizzare experiment: Can Haynesworth really turn a bunch of hand-picked slapdicks into a top defensive unit?
If yes, then he's probably due a raise.

Re: Broncos to trade Cutler
HAI G-Tripp-san. It is tradition in Redskin-Bronco deals to exchange a top flight corner and a draft pick for a Denver backfield player.

At this point, I either want nothing to come of these rumors, or I want the deal to be really, really lopsided in some third teams favor so I can adopt them next year while Cutler realizes being the Redskins QB is the worst job in the NFL.
