Reports on both Culliver and Johnson from former teammates and coaches is that they are disciplined in their assignments. They should both boost our defense along these lines.

Re: Redskins 2015 Signings (and Re-Signings) Thread
I remember when the sentiment was that fans would rather have a strong offense that can score a lot of points, rather than a defense that can keep the other team out of the end zone. Well, we've had that for the past few years now, and it hasn't worked. I think we're seeing that what always makes a team strong is solid offensive and defensive lines, and an overall solid defense. Hopefully Scot finds some offensive linemen in the draft, but I'm really liking what I'm seeing in this offseason.

Can't wait to see what Johnson is made of. Sounds like a very solid addition to special teams, and quite possibly the safety help we have needed for a long time. Love how competitive he sounds.
“That’s my plan—to come in and compete for the starting job,” Johnson told Larry Michael on Redskins Nation. “I don’t want anything handed to me. [I’m going] to come in and compete. I’m just going to be me. I can’t promise you anything but me, Jeron Johnson. I’m a competitor. I want to compete and I want to win.” http://www.csnwashington.com/redskin...attle-seahawks And if you haven't YouTubed his name yet here you go...still stings like a bitch https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1WknnBsjAOk

Scot McC on his approach to free agency this year:
Quote:
Washington Redskins GM Scot McCloughan talks free agency, OL in draft - ESPN Good stuff. It all sounds good. Unfortunately, gonna take a few years to actually build the talent and depth to pull it off.

We fans are just going to have to be patient as he works his plan. More importantly, Dan Snyder needs to be patient for the plan to work. I am very much looking forward to seeing more emphasis put on the power running game. I realize that the game has changed a lot since the 1980's and the NFL is now primarily a passing league but the power running game is still the kind of football I enjoy the most. For me, John Riggins running behind the Hogs was the ultimate in Redskins football. Power running is in the Redskins DNA as represented by RBs like Larry Brown, Stephen Davis, and Clinton Portis and OLs like Russ Grimm, Joe Jacoby, and Mark May. At this point, I think it's safe to assume that any OL we draft will be a very large man who is known for his run blocking.

Loved what I read about Scot McCloughan's plan. Sounds like the 'skins are still not done in free agency, and sounds like he's going to try and address the offensive line with the draft. I believe the team will be improved next year, but I think you'll see better strides in year two or three under McCloughan. By that point, we'll know if Gruden is our guy in regards to coaching, and of course if RGIII or Cousins is the quarterback of the future.

Very simply ... Patience Daniel-san.
Scotty "Miyagi" McC to Little Daniel-san: "We make sacred pact. I promise teach [building a champion] to you, you promise learn. I say, you do, no questions."

I go with a #1 cb slightly over the nt knighton move. All have been great though.

What I really like about the moves so far is we're seeing a commitment to being a tough, physical team that plays with some attitude.
