Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Another major problem for us is what we have to trade. Are main competitors NYG and PHL have multiple first round picks. They have alot of ammo to make moves. I think they both will be looking for QB. The only thing we have to offer is the defensive linemen. I fear if this qb thing does not get solved this year we may lose some major ground to these teams.

Obviously QB is the priority. But we really need at least one, maybe 2, linebackers that are nasty run stoppers.

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I’d take Matt Ryan on a 2 year deal but we still need a long term QB regardless

What about coverage linebackers who also defend the run well? And/or force turnovers? Those sound real nice right about now.

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Idk the situation w/ Matt Ryan but why would Atlanta let him walk? Who do they have that is better? Also why would we give up draft picks for him? I wouldn't. We have already done the old guy thing. He is w/out question better than anyone we have, probably has a few good years left - but I'd pass simply because he does not push us into SB contender type of team. We ain't there yet. We aren't a team like the Rams. I would pass on Ryan.

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
I mentioned this a while back.. go the route similar to 2012. You draft two guys and bring back one of the incumbents - either Allen or Fitz. The higher draft pick competes w/ the incumbent and the later round project sits and learns.
This may not be popular but I'm not bringing back TH. We have to aim higher than an undrafted FA that limits the offense because of a lack of arm talent. |

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Henike will be a great back up he just can't get it done every week. Sounds like people want to draft someone. I am ok with that but we need to bring a veteran in as well. I like M. Marrota he similar to Henike but runs and throws better. Problem is injuries. If we get the mississippi kid or pitt kid with this may be ok. Not my first choice but most likely outcome though.

Super user friendly way to do a mock draft:
The trade proposals are unrealistic for the most part. But the players are ranked. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/mockdraft/

I almost want to lose both games to a) get a higher pick and b) assure the Eagles picks have less value. Almost.

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
NY have already said that Jones is back next year, and Philly have all but committed to Hurts (who unlike Jones, seems to have improved somewhat recently). If either looks at QB that high in this draft, especially given their obvious problems in the OL department, it's going to make them look dysfunctional. Hell, if they want to reach for a QB or even trade up, let them; anything that sets them back helps us.
Yes we need a QB, but that's not our only need, so if a value pick at QB isn't there when we pick in rd1 etc., then take the BPA especially if he's a LB or S, or even trade down. But certainly do not trade up or reach for any QB in this draft. We didn't last year, when there were options available (at least for a trade up) so why would we trade up this year with a far weaker QB class? |

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
We signed Fitzpatrick in March before the draft. I assume we would have been more aggressive for Mac Jones if we didnt already do that.
I dont study or know Corral or Pickett but if the staff likes one of them, ideally Corral falls to us at no. 9 or wherever we draft. I wouldnt be against trading up a few spots if it means securing Corral. Derek Carr - under contract w Raides next year, says he doesnt want to go anywhere and wed have to trade 2 1R plus a 3R to get him, then have to sign him to a massive contract. I like Carr but not at that cost. Mariotta/Ryan/retreads -- no thank you. That doesnt actually solve the problem. ---------- ideally, in order: Draft Corral (throw in a 2023 2R if needed to move up a spot or 2) Trade for watson (who wont come here anyway) Draft Pickett Tank 2022 .. absolutely just tank it. |

Re: The Too Soon 2022 NFL Draft Thread
Given where we are likely to pick I would rather draft a stud at LT/S/CB and then trade back into the bottom third of the 1st round (as we did for Montez Sweat)for one of the available quarterbacks, if they really believe he has talent. May cost us a second next year to do but but if they like the guy and they think he can be a
(But not likely the) solution long term then I would be OK with that. Regardless of what real value you place on them you will need to be picking them in the first round if you want one. Regardless, they will need to spend FA dollars to fill many other holes |
