Re: The annual QB carousel
This article here implies Mayfield is seeking $65 million annually. Imagine it's just for negotiation purposes and they eventually reach a deal. Always thought he was good not elite.

Re: The annual QB carousel
This year is key to many QBs, especially with the upcoming 27 draft class that could have 6-7 QBs drafted. Also it’s time to pay the 23 draft class and the 24 draft class is eligible after the season.
Daniels- Eligible for 5th year option after the season and eligible for a contract extension. Jayden’s long term future will be questionable if he has another poor season and/or spends a significant time injured. Dart- Dart needs to stay healthy and show the promise of last year. Harbaugh can move on, if Dart doesn’t have a decent year. Hurts- if the offense doesn’t show life, the buzz is Eagles could move on from Hurts in 27. Williams- same position as Jayden. He wants that 5th year option and that contract extension. Murray/Mccarthy- Kyler has a bounce back year, Vikings likely sign him to long term deal. JJ is a bust, like to be out of league in 2-3 years. No 5th year option or contract extension for him. Likely, cut in 27. Mayfield- Contract expires after season. Bucs miss playoffs, Baker probably has to get a new contract elsewhere. Tagovaolia/Pennix- Tua needs to play all season and seal starting spot, to get a new long term deal. Pennix has been a bust so far. He needs to healthy and seize job from Tua and play all season. He won’t get that 5th year option or contract extension otherwise. Bryant Young- Panthers picked up 5th year option but he needs to show more to get that long term deal. Jacoby Brissett- Just a placeholder. Cards will draft a qb in 27. Cousins/Mendoza- Raiders will go with Kirk until they feel season is over and puts in Mendoza. Kirt as to accept he’s not a regular starter anymore but can be a bridge QB going forward. Nix- Bo is eligible for 5th year option & contract extension. He’s likely the first 25 qb to sign an extension. CJ Stroud- Texans picked up 5th year option. An extension depends on a how CJ does next 2 years. Watson/Sanders- Unless either qb does well; Browns drafting in 27. Jackson- Lamar’s contract expires after 27 season. He wants a new deal, will he remain in Baltimore? Rudolph/Howard/Allar- The likely 27 lineup for Steelers after Rodgers retires. Maye- Another 24 QB who likely will get 5th year option picked up and like sign a contract extension. Willis- Just placeholder. Dolphins will draft a qb in 27. Smith- Geno is also a placeholder. Jets will draft a qb in 27. |

Re: The annual QB carousel
Baker Mayfield got a 3 year extension; so he’s not going anywhere.

Re: The annual QB carousel
I am happy to see this for McCarthy. He's gotten off to a rough start in Minny as a 1st rounder. Kid is still really young and deserves another chance. Know he could have played better but good to see another opportunity potentially for him. Darnold and Murray/Wentz just beat him out so far at Minny.

Re: The annual QB carousel
This is a good value move for the Giants for a 5th round pick.

Re: The annual QB carousel
So many of these guys I just wouldn't pay. That includes JD5. The only guys that are really worth 50 million plus are Allen, Mahomes, maybe Lamar, maybe Burrow. That's it.
Stroud turned down like 50 million a year? Why? What has he done to deserve anywhere near that kind of cash? Baker? I would just let him walk. McCarthy just isn't good enough. The Vikes 100% overdrafted him. Maye? He's not better than JD or Caleb. Just cause you're next in line doesn't mean you get the bag. And since this is my favorite team, I feel with JD pick up his 5th year option and see what happens. This is only his 3rd year. take your time. |

Re: The annual QB carousel
I think this is the last year of Watson’s contract. If he has a good season and takes Browns to playoffs, what do Browns do next year.

Re: The annual QB carousel
Likely offer him a new contract offer at a reasonable amount. Doubt they would give him another gargantuan one. Big victory for him last night.

Re: The annual QB carousel
He still looks nothing like he did before the injury and everything. Question is can he regain his best, or more likely near to. He cannot be expecting a stupid deal even if they do have a good season.

Re: The annual QB carousel
The Browns would be well within their rights to ask him to take minimal deal so that the massive payout they made over the last several years for no return evens out (and, yes, I know it doesn't work like that).
