Well I think we all can agree BLACK is not in the teams colors, however neither is WHITE technically. Don't get me wrong... White has been incorporated into the "Burgundy and Gold". So if WHITE can and was incorporated then so to could BLACK be incorporated to replace WHITE as trim.

I think the major problem is half the fans despise change and would prefer to keep the same uni's and helmet forever. The other half are split up into groups that would like to see a modernized retro look and the other half wanting just a modernized look.

Good post. It worked for Tampa Bay.

Further, It is only a matter of time until we will be forced to change our Indian emblem and probably even our name. I think by waiting for that to happen it will cause us to lose our identity as the Redskins completely. Because The change would be dramatic the following season.

Thats why I think we should start making changes to the uniforms now. And have suggested the 'R" on the helmet, but that was just a example. Subtle transitional changes.

I also think our tradition has become one of a losing hard luck "cursed" team. A different look can help to change the mental image that the current uniform projects.

Just for the record, I am not in favor of the liberal movement that threatens to change culture the way it does, but knowing they do and as a country we move in that direction, you can bet on forced change coming to the Redskins real soon.

BTW, black is a Redskins color. HTTR!!!

White is a neutral color that pretty much every team utilizes so that the two teams playing on the field can always be distinguished between each other.

Black is a bad idea. Nothing is better than the Native American Logo. Just an R on the helmet? What are we? Rutgers? We gotta look like a Pro Team even if it doesnt seem like we are run like a Pro team.

Re: Redskins Uniforms

I'm not for the "Indian" cause and their complaint about the emblem. I have some Indian in my family and still don't care. I think the people with the complaint need to find a better cause to fight over like the white man taking all their land and never properly paying for it.

Let them open a casino called the caucasion or white skin. Maybe Anglo would be a good name. People need to stop being sooo overly sensitive. If it offends you then don't watch it, don't listen to it, don't purchase the murchandise, better yet become a Cowboys fan.

Re: Redskins Uniforms

Just stick with the same with some minor adjustments. Maybe use the R logo instead of the Indian Head. Black looks too much like ATL

Re: Redskins Uniforms

ok the black looks legit but the old fanbase will hate it and will want burgandy as the primary color. The idea could still work if it was shifted to burgandy.

Re: Redskins Uniforms

I think we do need some kind of uniform update.

I liked how the Lions tweaked their uniform and kept it similar, but yet updated.

If we really have a new identity (do we?) and are trying to change the culture, then an updated uniform is in order...

I think uniform changes only work if you've sucked for a long time while having done virtually nothing as a franchise. The Broncos with their 4 Super Bowl losses. The Cardinals winning virtually nothing. The Falcons never posting back to back winning seasons. Eagles never winning a Super Bowl (sure they still haven't won one but they're contenders year in and year out). Tampa with those ugly orange uniforms. Seahawks never having reached a Super Bowl. Patriots loosing their two Super Bowl appearances.

I don't know if 3 Super Bowl wins qualify you for a uniform change turn around. The science is still being studied.

Well we have the one point. We have sucked for a long time, winning nothing. After our last superbowl appearance, we havent been back in 20 years. We have won the division only once since then, in 1999. Since 1992, we have had 15 losing seasons. We've only made 3 trips to the playoffs in that span. The last time we had more than 10 wins was in 1991. I think a uniform change at this point wouldnt hurt anything.

Well, technically, the Redskins did change their uniforms. They went from the white pants to Gold pants and went from wearing white jerseys on burgundy pants at home (and mostly on the road) to the burgundy tops and gold at home. We even saw the Redskins wear white jerseys on gold pants at away games. I would say just tweak a bit of what the team already has (again, like what Summo had posted a while back) and don't screw with it too much. If the helmets must change from the Indian head to something else, the only other thing that works in my opinion is the spear and feather. But, I like the Indian head on the helmet. Now, if they want to make him look a bit "meaner" then that's OK, but nothing too cartoonish.
