I guess he is saying scouts/fans/people dont pay attention to small college programs who posses just a talented players as large college programs. Players at larger programs are better because they went to bigger program or something. Which I dont agree

Re: Redskins Offensive Line: 2012 Unsung Heroes
This is exactly what I was trying to say. Some players go undrafted. Some are drafted high and some are drafted very late. As long as they have the ability to play is all that matters. But I would like to see Compton, Gettis, and LeRibeus get some game experience during some point if it's possible. But when Gettis, Compton, or LeRibeus hasn't played, it makes me think that the coaches feel like they are incapable or simply not ready to contribute yet. Hell, Joe Jacoby was undrafted and was arguably the best RT in Redskins history.

Re: Redskins Offensive Line: 2012 Unsung Heroes
I think some are missing the point of the thread. No one's saying our offensive line has been dominant or couldn't use an additional piece here and there. But given the uneven play of our defense throughout the season, WRs in and out of the line-up, a key injury at TE, the offensive line has performed admirably considering two rookies have lined up behind them all season. That's all I was pointing out with the thread title.
We talk about depth around here like there should be Pro-Bowlers standing on the sidelines or on someone's practice squad ready to rock and roll. Not how it works. Be grateful. The unit has gelled and are obviously playing with a lot of confidence right now. |

If we are constantly in passing situations b/c our defense is giving up big plays and we need to score quick, Griffin is going to be exposed more often. How about a D that gets the other team off the field, lets Griffin hand the ball to Morris and take the occasional deep strike. Sounds to me like a good plan to keeping him from taking hits. It's the complete team that matters.

Re: Redskins Offensive Line: 2012 Unsung Heroes
I'm sure the whole organization and fanbase want the best protection for RG3. He's our franchise QB. But somewhere along the way wins and losses matter. RG3 is not in dire danger because of his RT anymore than Aaron Rogers or a number of other QB's. We can't all have the best RT in football. I'm sure if the right opportunity to improve the line presents itself...we'll do something about it. But that win thing? Pretty important too. And if we had better players on defense, safety in particular, I think it's safe to say we'd have more wins and a better chance of advancing in the playoffs. I don't think a new RT would make nearly as much difference in the w/l column as a couple, or even one, good safety would. And if you asked RG3 which he'd rather have...I have a feeling it would be whatever helps the team win the most.

Re: Redskins Offensive Line: 2012 Unsung Heroes
I think that it's asking too much of RGIII to put the team on his back and also watch his own back at the same time - just in case someone like Justin Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck, DeMarcus Ware, or one of these other pass rushing beasts gets through Polumbus. It's asking too much because while he's trying to focus on attacking the defense, he always has to keep one eye on the right edge.
That's the difference between having "decent" right tacke and someone that RGIII can trust. Just think of how much he's done so far - and that's with one eye with who Polumbus is blocking. And I'm not saying get the best all-pro tackle in football; I'm saying put a priority in getting someone that would upgrade that position. This just states the obvious benefit of upgrading RT. There's also some other benefits. |

And what about defensive position vs rt? I only come up with two assuming one of Merriwether/Jackson starts along with one of Wilson/Hall. Speaking of Hall are you still convinced he's gone after this season? Someone quoted him as saying he wants to restructure to finish his career with us, at least I though I read it.
