Or how about the fact that Obama is more interested in being popular around the world than being an actual proud american. (note my sig) Obama is in this for himself, not for the benefit of the country. (I'm sure many of you would love to debate that opinion, but we all know, what I am saying is going in one ear and out the other. This site has proven that when it comes to democrats, it doesn't matter what is said, you are sheep for your candidate. Fact is, the last 3 democratic candidates have been piss poor at best, when exactly are the Dems going to throw up a good candidate?)

How anyone can not be moved by Fred Thompson's speech is beyond me. That was a great speech that had people crying in their seats. One of the best speeches in recent memory at a RNC. 5 1/2 years he was in a POW camp with broken bones, breaking ribs, pure torture, yet he didn't give them ANY info...he didn't break AT ALL, including refusing to go home because other people had been there longer than he has. I seriously doubt that Obama has that kind of strength and character. Obama gets upset when you talk about his kids (even though he showboats them any time possible) but the second McCain selects Palin, they are quick to attack her pregnant daughter. This is a vice presidential candidate here...it's fair play I suppose, but don't bitch and moan about your ability to father your kids then turn around and attack a VP candidate's daughter.

ps- country first could also mean not allowing a 3rd trimester abortion to die in a linen closet with no medical attention like Obama would prefer.
I think that there are a lot of flaws in your argument that you may want to rethink. This coming from someone who leans politically in the same direction that you do. Though I don't think quite so far.

i don't think anyone on this board questions john McCain's heroic efforts during war. but his politics, and policies are eerily similar to our current administrations. those same policies have done nothing but damage our economy, damage our good standing thru out the world, and make the bridge between the haves, and the have nots bigger then ever. as a country we are more divided then ever. we are looking for something new. while i may not really know what Obama will do, if he wins the white house. i am willing to try something that is definitely different then the same old status quo, that John McCain offers. and with your P.S. about obama and abortion, i would like a link, because i have heard him support was the women's right to choose. this seems like a radical view against Roe vs. Wade( the same that McCain vows to overturn)

You just buy into the democratic rhetoric blindly, don't you? How exactly is McCain a carbon copy of Bush?

Troop Surge
McCain: Yes
Bush: Yes
Was it a good idea? Yes.

Federal Spending
McCain: Cut back, balance the budget
Bush: Spend spend spend

Stem Cell Research
McCain: Yes
Bush: No

Healthcare
McCain: $5000 tax credit to families, and $2500 to individuals, so they can buy any coverage in any state
Bush: Status quo

Taxes:
Bush: supported his own tax cuts, regardless of spending
McCain: liked tax cuts, but came out against them when spending accelerated

Not sure why people will blindly believe he's a carbon copy of Bush. It's an uneducated belief.

I'll respond to the points in bold:

-Could be, I just think there's more to it.

-I'm not a dem. I agree the recent dem candidates have been bad, but I think Obama is a strong one.

-Good human interest story, it doesn't tell me why he should be running the country though.

-Obama himself said that Palin's daughter is off limits.
"Let me be as clear as possible," Obama said. "I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president."

Obama said reporters should "back off these kinds of stories" and noted that he was born to an 18-year-old mother.

Basically they are saying Dems are being to divisive and "country first" is just a fluffy term no one is really opposed to.

Another thing is the Republicans are now trying to market themselves as a party for all, With a female candidate to get hildog votes and liberman(along with others) focusing on how McCain works with both parties.

Interesting tactic.

Fluffy term you say? You mean like "Time Horizon?"

I found the whole RNC pretty sad, in a way I felt bad for them much like you would for a wounded animal. Of course, like a wounded bear, they're the sort of wounded animal you don't want to help because chances are good that they'd viciously rip your head off with one swipe.

How many people did they have in there? Couldn't have been more than 1000 people in there.

It was nowhere near as cool as the coronation of BHO in Obamaopolis.

The conventions don't mean a whole lot, the real fun begins with the live debates.

I must admit Obama's coronation was spectacular, the only thing missing was the "Mission Accomplished" banner.

I'm looking forward to the debates.

To be clear, Lieberman hasn't officially crossed party lines. he's (I believe) an Independent Democrat. He votes with the Democrats most of the time, and sits as part of the Democratic Senate caucus.

And they allow him to maintain his committee chairs so that they can maintain their majority. So it's OK to use him for that but otherwise he sucks to them.

He "left" the democrats because they threw him under the bus. They were the ones who decided to work against him so he couldn't get the nom in his own state. Then they get pissed because he runs as an independent and gets elected. It is that type of politics, that happens on both sides, that kills our system. A guy they nominated vor VP 6 years earlier suddenly doesn't agree with them on some issues and they scorched earth him. Talk about an "you either with us or against us" mentallity.

Re: Update: McCain Selects Gov. Sarah Palin as Running Mate

I think the Country First slogan is meant to attrack those people, of which there are a pretty good amount, who think Dems are America's apologists. They think Dems have a negative view of our country as whole and the way we have done things both nationally and internationally and think we suck. It is a depiction that I don't all-together believe in but I understand why a good amount of people have come to that conclusion without much thought.
