If I avoided dirty moves I would never win, kind of like Kellen Moore throwing directly into tight windows.

Redskins Insider - Shanahan would welcome McNabb as a backup next year

You know, after the Haynesworth fiasco, i honestly think Shanahan would pay 17MM to keep McNabb as a backup in 2011 if no one meets our trade demands.
Certainly would have enough cap space to afford it.

• RB Clinton Portis: -$5,645,500
• LB London Fletcher: -$4,900,000
• QB Donovan McNabb: -$4,750,000
• CB DeAngelo Hall: -$4,400,000
• DT Albert Haynesworth: -$3,400,000
• C Casey Rabach: -$3,000,000
• NT Ma'ake Kemoeatu: -$2,500,000
• OG Derrick Dockery: -$1,565,000
• DE Adam Carriker: -$1,420,000
• OG Artis Hicks: -$1,400,000
• DE Phillip Daniels: -$1,250,000
• DE Vonnie Holliday: -$1,250,000
• TE Fred Davis: -$555,000
• DE Andre Carter: $2,909,998

Carriker, Davis, Fletcher, and Hall are all but guranteed to come back. Ma'ake and God forbid Rabach are probably coming back. Still the cuts would come on top of a projected $30 million of cap space.

He must be too bad at seeing as he has over 70 TDs and 8 INTs in two years...

Assuming we could afford it, i'd say keep him as a backup, atleast through the preseason. At some point, a QB would get hurt and come begging for McNabb.

Back in 2005 I had a friend that told me I was stupid when I said that Jason White would probably be a late second day pick. White had won a Heisman while throwing for 75 TD's and 7,000 yards the previous two years against Big XII competition. White went undrafted.

Back in 2003 I was a wide eye kid that couldn't understand why one of my favorite QB's Ken Dorsey wasn't going to be a first round pick. He had 76 TD passes, a national championship, and a 38-2 record as a starter. Dorsey was a 7th round pick.

Colt Brenanan in his final two years, playing against the same programs as Kellen Moore threw 96 TD passes.

I have no problem drafting Moore next year as a late round project. However making him Plan A and anointing him as our QB of the future is just insane.

So? Throw all the stats at me you want. None of those scrubs are Kellen Moore! Therefore your argument is invalid. lol

Damnit you bastard you threw stats at me. Don't throw stats at me like Kellen Moore on a long windup and go after me for throwing stats. You bastard, trying to use my own dirty tactics against me. I'm going to PM the mods to have you banned for infinity billion years.

Agree he is accurate and will be cheap.

He is also fragile - - and if the OL is not dramatically improved I don't think Bulger can last thru many actual games.

I would bring him here if I also had confidence that the 2011 OL would be WAAAY better than the 2010 and/or 2009 OLs...

You only used bastard twice. Don't say things if you don't really mean them. It could hurt someone's feelings if they are delicate. Like Mark Bulger's body is.

Although Rex seems like the safe pick, I also think he's in a position to make him the #1 FA QB available. That said, I don't think any team will break the bank for him, so if we want to, we should be able to resign him.

Personally, i think we should trade whatever we have to to get Luck. Seriously, the dudes going to be one of the best QBs ever. I'd trade our 1st and 2nd this year, plus our 1st rounders the next two years to move up 5-6 spots to get him.
Will you people stop saying trade. We get hosed on trades unless we trade and get more picks. We have no business trying to trade up for any player in the draft. We do not have a 3rd pick this coming draft.

Re: Who Will Be The Redskins 2011 Opening Day Starting QB?

Our QB form the 2011 season will be, who knows. Look right now we know it takes a QB a couple of years to get comfortable most offensive schemes. I still believe McNabb can do better in this offense in his 2nd year. I also believe we need a QB for the future and Rex maybe the opening starter until our drafted QB is ready to play. McNabb will not be back unless he takes a pay cut and getss on board with both Shannys.

Re: Who Will Be The Redskins 2011 Opening Day Starting QB?

I voted for McNabb. Im hoping Rex's carrer can be revived here, but Im not betting on it. Even if McNabb is lazy or isn’t smart enough to make a concerted effort to learn a new system at this stage in his career, a second year and a additional off season should make him better. If we cant trade him, id like to keep him around as our number 2, even if it does create a respect issue. Not sure how possible that would be given his contract though.

Also Ryan Perrilloux is still a guy im hoping the Redskins give a shot, I think if he really has his priorities in order he could be a starter in this league.

Re: Who Will Be The Redskins 2011 Opening Day Starting QB?

The redskins are bizarre...McNabb invite as a backup after trading for him after 13 games?
Nuts....most say it takes 2 years to grasp a system...I think they are just fed up due to fundamentals more than anything.

I just don't see how the skins can afford to gamble a first rounder on a qb with so few quality picks remaining.
I'd say it is far more likely that we will try to get the top free agent...anyone know who that is?...and dont say Grossman!

Re: Who Will Be The Redskins 2011 Opening Day Starting QB?

I feel we should do what it takes to build through the draft, not FA's. We need to stop trading our picks away, and start using the picks do build our team. I like the idea of trying to get a guy like Hankerson from the U as our potential #1 WR or a top o lineman and spending the rest of our draft on our interior offensive line and look for either a quality FS or a rush LB. I'm just not sure that there is a legit Franchise qb in this draft outside of Luck and that all depends on if he declares or not, which he'd be crazy not to considering at this point, he has to be considered the consensus #1 pick in the draft. I don't think I'd be too upset with the drafting of Locker if we do enough to improve our line to protect him. With that in mind, keeping Grossman around for another year or two wouldn't be a bad idea.
