Re: What Are You Reading?
* I didnt want to bump the old spygate thread, but mods please do so if you think thats the more appropriate place.
I heard this interview with steve Czaban this morning: Bryan O’Leary – Spygate the Untold Story | Yahoo Sports Radio I never really thought too much about SpyGate, it just seemed that it wasnt all that impactful to the Patriots' success. I think this book is supposed to challenge that notion and also call into question if the NFL made a hard push to bury the matter (or certain aspects of it) as much as possible. The interview is worth listening to, and the book definitely sounds interesting. Im not a big book reader but some of you might find it worth checking out. Home Page

Pentagon warns former SEAL about bin Laden book - CNN.com
Anybody gonna read this money-grab book by this guy? Hope he understands he could be putting soldiers in harms way in the future if he gives up tactical and strategy info. Eff it, its more important for this guy to get rich. Gotta admit im interested, but will pass. Anybody reading anything good lately?

Amazon.com: Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 (9780316044691): Marcus Luttrell, Patrick Robinson: Books
Just read that book the other day, it was a very good read about a Seal who's entire team got wiped out in Afghanistan (and the backup squad that was sent had their helicopter shot down as well) and how he had to survive in a Taliban stronghold for around 5 days. He managed to survive because a local Pashtun tribe took him in and cared for him before they were able to arrange for the US to get him. |

Re: What Are You Reading?
I would also recommend, "City of Thieves".
It's written by Benioff (does some Game of Thrones screen play stuff). He was interviewing his Grandfather for stories of besieged Leningrad during WWII, and he kept implying to him that he wouldnt be able to portray his story accurate enough or well enough to do it justice. His Grandfather replied, "well... you're a story teller... write what you want and make up the rest". Great book.

Re: What Are You Reading?
Greetings and Happy Fourth....
Perhaps the day reminds me, but I have been meaning to for some time. I need a suggestion for a non-fiction account of the Revolutionary War. I read mostly novels but get off the wagon occasionally for the "non". I do not do well with tedious or text book style research material. If you have a recommendation. I would thank you in advance for your suggestion!

Re: What Are You Reading?
recently read chuck palahniuk's Diary, Pygmy and Survivor.
also finally finished reading the first Game of Thrones book . . about 100 pages into the Godfather .. amazing how the movie is exactly like the book. puzo doesnt get enough credit for being the creator/mind behind the story, all coppolla had to do was follow the book exactly. it is a really good read. found it at my parent's house. the edition is probably 40+ years old, yellow brittle pages and failing apart.

Re: What Are You Reading?
Joyland by Stephen King; good summer read; quick and easy but full filling.
