Re: Kirk Cousins pick 4.7
Anybody tell you that drafted bad... If, If, if a draft analyst say I missed on a pick, and y'all hear it, then that's that.
I mean, I might have missed one pick this year but if, if somebody say he doesn't draft right in the 4th round, it could be one pick. Out of all the picks this year, that's enough... that's enough to get a whole lot started. I told Coach Shanahan that you don't have to give the people of D.C. a reason to think about trading RGIII or anything like that. If you trade for somebody, you trade them to make the team better...simple as that. I'm cool with that. I'm all about that. The people in D.C. deserve to have a winner. It's simple as that. It goes further than that ... If I can't draft a backup QB, I can't draft one. If my starter gets hurt, he's hurt. I mean ... simple as that. It aint about that... I mean its... Its not about that... At all. You know what I'm saying I mean... But its...its easy ... to, to talk about... It's easy to sum it up when you're just talking about 4th round pick. We're sitting in here, and I'm supposed to be the General Manager, and we in here talking about a 4th round pick. I mean, listen, we're talking about 4th round pick, not a 1st rounder, not a 2nd rounder, not even a 3rd rounder, we talking about a 4th round pick. Not a 1st!! Not, not ... Not the 1st rounder that I go out there and trade a ton of picks for. Not the 1st rounder, but we're talking about 4th rounders, man. I mean, how silly is that? ...

Re: Kirk Cousins pick 4.7
This is my take in the Cousins pick....
He was the original backup plan if we could not trade up to get RGIII and it was not expected for him to fall to the 4th round. BA says to Shanny.." Cousins is still on the board do you want to grab him!?" Shanny- " yes! I want to wipe the cupboard clear and start with fresh new minds, 2 intelligent QBs learning the system at the same time and it will just fuel RGIII to go 110%!" BA - " he can either be nice insurance in case RGIII goes down and he could very well turn into trade bait....let's get him!" Shanny- " cue the QB controversy card!" DS- " yeah, meanwhile we have a parade going for RGIII and 20,000 waiting for him at FedEx field.....please..... our 2 1st rounders say otherwise." BA- " 100 bucks say if the Pats made this move ESPN would be kissing their butt!" |

Cousins was projected to go in the 2nd round. With all the talent in other positions he fell to the 4th round. That would be considered a steal for any other team.... except the Redskins. Why? Atleast we now have to talented QB's for the future and if nothing else hopefully one pans out well. Most expectedly RG3 but for what ever reason he doesn't there is Cousins. No complaints here. |

Re: Kirk Cousins pick 4.7
look, if we really wanted massie, he would have been here. we had a 3rd round pick we could have used on him, or a 4th rounder. the FO said no thanks to that.
the last time the skins took two qbs, the late pick ended up starting a playoff game while the 1st round guy flopped out of the league. we got 3 linemen... would a 4th have made a huge difference? cousins will make the final 53, a 4th OL rookie probably wouldn't. the overall talent level is higher this way. I don't get how the #2 QB spot is less important than the #4/#5 OG spot on a football team. injuries happen and john beck started games for us last year. that's really all the reason someone should need in regards to picking two QBs. |

Re: Kirk Cousins pick 4.7
I'm honestly sick of all the media attention to cousins. He was picked in the frickin 4th round. Every other nfl team passed on him Atleast twice before we picked him up. We have the potential to have the best quarterback situation in the league and were getting blasted for it? There is no controversy.
Cousins was picked in the 4th round He is a backup! This is only a controversy because people who are idiots make it one.

One analyst I head monday making fun of this pick was comparing it like this My kids are hungry now,I can buy them food now to feed them or I can stick the money in mutual funds and try to make more money in the future. Thats how I feel about this pick RIGHT NOW.I think we could have used the pick more wisely on something we need now.A lot of people are defending this pick saying we can turn it into more draft picks later.Who knows whos right, only time will tell I think the only thing certain about this pick is that it will be played up by the media as much as it possibly can to turn this into a controversy, whether there is one or not.Any little thing that happens insignificant or not will be analized to death to make it a controversy

Re: Kirk Cousins pick 4.7
Cousins was definitely a steal in the round we got him. The quarterback position requires so much and when you're a team coming off a 5-11 that had two QBs toss 18 TDs and 24INTs combined, you have to not only upgrade the starter role, but the reserve role as well. I don't really agree with all of the criticism that Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan are receiving pertaining to drafting Cousins. Drafting Cousins was the right move to make.

Re: Kirk Cousins pick 4.7
The media created controversy has no large effect on the relationship dynamics within the team, imo. The effect it will have on the team will be nothing more than annoying questions that have to be fielded during pressers.

Re: Kirk Cousins pick 4.7
I think the chance of RG3 struggling to the point where fans will be asking for Cousins is extremely slim. So thankfully we shouldn't have to worry about such a scenario.

Re: Kirk Cousins pick 4.7
I'm supprised at the media's negativity on the Skins picking up Cousins also. I look at it this way:
1- We have our franchise QB in RG3. Everyone wanted him. We got him. 2- There were some concerned about his size and the fact that his running might get him injured similar to Vick. Lets look at it this way, "IF" he were to get injured would you want to go back to Grossman and or Beck? I'm pretty sure we all had seen enough of both of them. So picking up another QB was going to happen. They didn't get P.Manning, and none of the other candidates were worth taking so drafting another QB was most likely going to happen. Would you want a decent back up or would you want the team to have taken a 7th round QB whome we all felt was simply camp fodder and god forbid he has to take over? 3- There were a lot of us to include myself who felt we should get rid of RG1 and Beck and pick up 2 QB's in the draft. Now we have two young QB's in the stable to play if need be. If one turns out not to work out we have the other, if both work out well then we have many options as in trading Cousins down the road or using the QB that fits best with what we want to do each week. We all know RG3 is the QB the coaches want to lead the team but technically he's not a "franchise" QB until he's proven himself and has been the leading QB for a few yrs. So should the team see something in an opponant that looks like Cousins might be the better fit the team can always have him play that week. Most likely Cousins won't see the field unless the team is up by a lot of points then they can sit RG3 and let Cousins get playing time for perhaps a trade down the road. |
