I wouldn't say ALL - I think there are Native Americans that genuinely offended/concerned/etc... but yeah, I think majority of it is exactly that...

You can tell by the arguments they make... when you start reading into them they either suggest they haven't done any actual looking into the issue as whole, or they don't actually care.

It's hard to convince them of that though... they've convinced themselves they care very much, any suggesting that they don't normally offends them

So the Amanda Blackhorse challenge is calling a Native American Redskin to their face. There should be a similar challenge to call Native Americans like the Wellpinit residents Racists or at least ignorant to their faces.

There's also another quote in the article acknowledging that Redskin may have been used as a pejorative in the "Wild Wild West days", but is not used today.

I've seen that argument in other articles about NA school districts who vehemently support the use of Redskin as their team name. They say the word in any other context other than the name of a sports team is obsolete. Kind of how most dictionaries define the word 'Yankee' as "sometimes offensive", but it's been largely redefined to mean the baseball team in NYC. It's kind of corny to use the word Yankee as an insult today, but at one point in time it wasn't.

I suppose the city of Washington, District of Columbia, itself should be worried about the next shoe to drop after Redskins, as I could see a strong push to change the city name next. After all, we all know what kind of a monster Columbus really was...

Rebels is a great name.

Renegades is sort if sexy, but how would you abbrebiate it? Rens? Gades? No to that one.

Redtails and Redhawks are lame.

Bravehearts just doesn't work for me.

Cavaliers and Rangers are both solid names, but MLB already has the Rangers and they suck now, and the NBA already has the Cavs and we can't take the chance of bringing Cleveland's curse here.

Warriors would be great, if only the country wasn't going down the crapper. I suppose we could use the Warriors in a non-Native American sense, but if that would be the case, nope, don't want it.

Skins has been thrown around, and that's just bizarre. Do we really want our team called the Skins? What does that even mean? What kind of skin would we be putting our putting our pride in? Heck no.

Warriors is a fairly wide encompassing term. If people have a problem with that might as well just get rid of all nicknames. I'm just glad pigskins isn't in this poll.
