Yep. A lot can and will change between now and the draft in April.

This time last year everyone was questioning Mark Sanchez from coming out of college and then after the combine(even though he didn't participate do to being a junior) he shot up the draft board to number 5 overall. I'm just hoping that someone will be there at the #4 pick whom teams want to trade up for.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Smith had a pretty mediocre year especially given his draft status, and Michael Oher, who was considered the top OT in college before the start of the 08 season had a fairly prolific season (due more to his play than to his movie) as a rookie. I'm just saying that in general i trust impressions directly after the season more than impressions from the combine. Right after the season people are looking at game tape and skills as they apply directly to football (in a game context), and I think that gives probably the best measure of a players ability to succeed. After the combine people are so focused on numbers- numbers that are completely manipulated because all the prospects have months to prepare for each specific drill, now I won't argue that a 40 time is important, but I really dont care about it when its taken from a sprinting stance with no pads on.

You make a good point. It seems just about every year there's a combine superhero who puts up good enough numbers to move up and get a good payday, then disappoints thereafter. But I agree with Redskin Warrior about there being risers and fallers making it more difficult to predict who will be drafted at what spot.

Chris Johnson had a pretty good 40 time...I'd say he's panning out pretty well.

Re: Redskins pick 4th in the draft

With the 4th pick, I would like to seee us draft Ingram.... to support and learn under CP. our 5 and 7 picks should be about rebuilding our aging O-line. We need a new freash line of HOGS! 350 and beyond.... Once the line is in place (1.5 years for gelling) We'll be back in the Superbowl chase!!! The Defense can be address in FA, but remember if we can control the ball, no defense can stand on their own. -- Hail Skins!

Ingram is a So.

A lot of players have a good 40 time. Ever heard of Darius Heyward Bey? I'm pretty sure he's not doing so hot (to be fair he plays for the raiders). And I'm also pretty sure that Chris Johnson also led the NCAA in rushing the year he was drafted, pretty good on field performance if I do say so. One case doesn't make good data, and I'm pretty sure if you look at the data you'l find more players whose stock was artificially inflated due to the combine than players who were "discovered" so to speak, because of the combine.

Ingram isn't going into the draft bro, he's only a So. so he has one year left at Bama. And we aren't going to get lineman over 350 lb's...shanny likes em mobile, not earth movers.

We trade Jason Campbell and the #4 pick for the 49ers 13th, 17th and 3 rounder. Use those picks to select Mike Iupati and Bruce Campbel in the first round. Pick Colt McCoy or the top QB Shanahan sees fit.

That is so not going to happen. So you're telling me Campbell is worth a 1st and a 3rd..............ummmm we'd be lucky to get just a 3rd round pick for him.

Iupati is not a good fit in this scheme. Maybe they could make it work but he's to much of a mauler to fit into a zone blocking scheme. Iupati is also likely to be available in the second round.

If JC is worth a 1rst and a 3rd....why would we WANT to get rid of him?
