Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
^ It sounds good, but we haven't seen it as aproven comodity. I am with you in wanting them to succeed, but they haven't proven there ability and i am sure that is why they are/were giving Jackson a look. BUT I am all for one more shot for the 2 youngsters.

By the same token I agree on not needing an elite reciever. I would rather do what the Chiefs did in the early part of the previous decade. The formula goes as follows - Great running game with a line that makes virtually anyone look good - Veteran Pro Bowl QB - Elite TE - Fast deep threat at reciever. The Chiefs were among the leagues top offenses despite not having an elite receiver, unless you want to count Eddie Kenninson, who ironically has a similar skillset to Santana Moss. 2002: Kansas City Chiefs Statistics - NFL Football - ESPN Trent Green: 3,690 yds/ 26 TD's 13 Int's/ 92.6 Rating Priest Holmes: 1,615 yds 21 TD's 5.2 average 29 years old Tony Gonzalez: 773 yds 7 TD's Eddie Kenninson: 906 yds 2 TD's Offensive Rank: 4th 28.1 PPG 2003: Kansas City Chiefs Statistics - NFL Football - ESPN Trent Green: 4,039 yds/ 24 TD's 12 Int's/ 92.6 Rating Priest Holmes: 1,420 yds 27 TD's 4.4 average 30 years old Tony Gonzalez: 916 yds 10 TD's Eddie Kenninson: 853 yds 5 TD's Offensive Rank: 2nd 30.3 PPG 2004: Kansas City Chiefs Statistics - NFL Football - ESPN Trent Green: 4,591 yds/ 27 TD's 17 Int's/ 95.2 Rating Priest Holmes: 892 yds 14 TD's 4.6 YPC 31 years old Larry Johnson: 581 yds 9 TD's 4.8 YPC Derrick Blaylock: 539 yds 8 TD's 4.6 YPC Tony Gonzalez: 1,258 yds 7 TD's Eddie Kenninson: 1,086 yds 8 TD's Offensive Rank: 1st 30.2 PPG 2005: Kansas City Chiefs Statistics - NFL Football - ESPN Trent Green: 4,014 yds/ 17 TD's 10 Int's/ 90.1 Rating Larry Johnson: 1,750 yds 20 TD's 5.2 YPC Priest Holmes: 451 yds 6 TD's 3.8 YPC 32 years old Eddie Kenninson: 1,102 yds 5 TD's Tony Gonzalez: 905 yds 2 TD's Offensive Rank: 1st 25.2 PPG Anway the point of all this is that you don't need an elite reciever to have the leagues best offense. I mean how many Super Bowls have the Pat's won with their God Like corps of receivers?

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
I know what your saying Dirtbag but some teams #1 WR are another teams 2nd, 3rd, or 4th WR. I can tell you our #1 Moss wouldn't be a #1 on many of teams, he'd be a #2 or #3 WR. He's our #1 cause he's the best the Skins have right now. I think many of you would say Moss is by far better then Thomas and Kelly right now.
and... you are correct in saying that teams don't always make it to a SB with their god like WR's. But what we are talking about is weapons. The Skins have one weapon who is often injured (Moss), then Cooley and now Davis. In the right scheme you might be able to mention Portis and the other RB's. What a team/HC I'm sure would like is several god like WR's, 2 god like TE's, 1 or 2 god like RB's, and a god like QB. Since according to many here we have the QB now, the TE's now, and hopefully RB's for a couple of yrs, can we look into possibly WR's with out someone complaining that we should just stay the course with the mediocrity we have had and look for any upgrades at that position which would cause other defenses to have to account for yet another threat? |

But what's unique about the Chiefs is that even though they had all that talent, they relied heavily on journeymen and scrubs to come up with big catches on second and third downs, and those players like Dante Hall, Marc Boerigter, Jason Dunn, Samie Parker, and Chris Horn all had their share of big games on those teams. We can't get enough (i.e. more than one) big games from second round draft choices, let alone UDFAs.

Re: Report: Redskins are pursuing Vincent Jackson
I am no longer on board. I want my draft picks. This would leave us with about the same amount of picks we had last year. 1st, 5th, 6th, 7th. Really makes watching the NFL draft pretty lame.
