PS- Jarrett Brown

Roster - TJ Housmandzadeh & James Hardy

Just curious, which teams cut the most serviceable players. Which coach would you least trust if he were ours to cut the right players.

Seattle cut julius jones, and a safety who started 16 last year. I don't know if the safety is any good, but should we look at him?

I'd rather bring in former Iggles Macho Harris or Quentin Demps to play Safety before Babineax.

The one guy who was cut today that really intrigues me is FB Owen Schmitt, formerly of the Seahawks.

Donovan McNabb on easter weekend, Jammal Brown on Father's Day weekend, and here comes TJ Houshmandzadeh on Labor Day weekend!

From Twitter:

Former #Seahawks WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh's destination appears to be coming down to a choice between #Raiders and #Redskins.

Redskins could be a possibility for Houshmandzadeh

Although the Redskins opted to keep six wide receivers on their 53-man roster, they're apparently still considering other options. Put T.J. Houshmandzadeh near the top of that list.

Unable to broker a trade before the deadline for roster cuts, the Seattle Seahawks released Houshmandzadeh on Saturday. According to the Seattle Times, his top options now appear to be the Redskins and the Oakland Raiders.

Houshmandzadeh could be a good deal for some team. Though he has a guaranteed salary of $7 million this season, Seattle will pay the bulk of the contract. Houshmandzadeh will likely land somewhere for the veteran minimum.

Though the Redskins kept a half dozen receivers on the roster, only Santana Moss has a clear cut role. Joey Galloway appears to be the favorite to start opposite him but another receiver could easily come to Redskins Park and make a strong case for playing time. The team's other receivers include Anthony Armstrong, Devin Thomas, Roydell Williams and Brandon Banks, an undrafted rookie.

Houshmandzadeh, who's 32 years old and entering his 10th season, has been a regular starter in the league and topped 900 yards each of the past six seasons. Though he has a strong roots in the West Coast, there's a chance he'd be able to compete with Galloway for the Redskins' No. 2 receiver spot. His best season came in 2007 when had 1,143 and 12 touchdowns on 112 receptions.

I hope we pass on Housh

I view Housh as an over the middle type possension receiver and our combo of Cooley/Davis and Roydell Williams will be able to run the same routes and have the same type of production that Housh would.

I think Housh's skillset would not only be redundant but he would take valueable reps/targets playing time from other players (Anthony Armstrong, Devin Thomas) we should be developing long term.

Also if we sign Housh wouldn't that mean that the coaching staff's faith in our current WRs is all false bravado and bluster?

No Roydell Williams would not produce the same stats as Housh would.

I think that he'd be a good addition honestly. Guys can't say that we can't give up what it will take to get VJ and still say that we shouldn't go after TJ as well. I am assuming that the reason that we still have a practice squad position open is due to something that we anticipated happening as far as bringing at least one guy in.
