But I'm with you: Ponder 100/100 times over Locker. I think Devlin's pretty good too, but he seems to fit a strictly west coast short-to-long system. I'll be trying to watch him tomorrow to get a better idea on Devlin.

I do understand your reservations about Locker though. I myself have mixed emotions and feel that Mallet would probably be the safer pick. If anything Mallet reminds me a lot of Schuab. Locker on the other hand doesn't really have a comparable NFL counterpart seeing as how I can't think of anyone with a strong arm and amazing straight line speed while lacking in agility. Quote:
Kellen Moore will be lucky to be a fifth round pick in 2012. It's best to think of him like you would Ken Dorsey, Jason White, Colt Brenan, or Chris Weinke. He's a great college QB but any team that relied on him to be their franchise QB would likely find themselves drafting early and often.

You know what, check this out: Jay Cutler Statistics | College Football at Sports-Reference.com Jake Locker Statistics | College Football at Sports-Reference.com Those are probably the two most similar draft prospects in history. One does appear to be clearly better than the other, but those were very similar supporting casts in very similar environments. And, you know, Mike Shanahan and such.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
But can you imagine if we changed coaches after 2011 and then had a second year Locker coming off a dreadful, mistake-prone rookie season? You couldn't find a coach at the professional level who'd be willing to take on that mess.
Steve Sarkisian in 2012! Because someone has to do it!

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
So PTI just said Kyle doesn't get along with McNabb?? Now the truth is starting to come out.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
Old news that PTI (I'm guessing it was Tony) has said before. Not that they don't get along, but Kyle has had issue with McNabb's mechanics, namely his footwork, since pre-season.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
I'd take Foles over Gabbert

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
I probably would too, if they were both available. I doubt they'll both be available. I think it's more like, once Andrew Luck makes an announcement to stay, one or the other might think (or be advised) "hey, you could be a top ten pick now with a good combine performance." And one may come out.
Luck, Mallett, Newton, Foles, and Gabbert are the first round skill sets who are underclassmen. I think Newton is going to be a competent starter at the next level, but if you're looking for a franchise guy (Mark Sanchez, Jason Campbell, Vince Young, Chad Henne, Carson Palmer, etc), look elsewhere. I'd be willing to hitch my wagon to any of the other four at the right price.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
And for the record, every last one of these guys would look better in 2012 than in 2011. But if any of them (and I think Mallett and Newton will for sure) come out this year, we have to evaluate them in the context of what they've done to that point, not how they would have done if they stayed.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
They keep saying on the news how Shanahan wasn't happy with how McNabb had picked up his offense which is obviously true and I'm sure he could have done better but it just seems to me that Shanahan seems a little to set in his ways as far as scheme's go. I mean if it takes nothing short of a 9 time pro bowler, all decade QB, maybe the greatest passer of all time to fully grasp your system, maybe you need to dumb it down a little so that your every day, run of the mill 6 time pro bowler can figure it out and perform. And I don't care which defense we run, a 4-3, a 3-4, each can be just as effective but why would you choose the one that then needs an entire personnel change. Plenty of teams win super bowls in a 4-3. Just kind of seems like common sense. It would be a lot easier to rebuild an offense with an already strong defense and vice versus. Just a thought.

Re: Report: Grossman Starting on Sunday
Fck all the other QBs...I want Kellen Moore! I would seriously draft him #1 overall! And if we are talking future QB selection then I'd like to have Aaron Murray for Georgia.
