I"m disappointed. SHould have been a win for the Pirates, but our offense (or strong point) shitted the bed two weeks in a row. I gotta give props to VT's defense for the pressure and sacks, but god damn that kid dropping those passes ....arrrrrgggghhhh. Probably a good thing VT had so many penalties to help us out though.

Our OC needs to adjust much better. Good game indeed though.

I was keeping up with the game while I've been at work today, and I thought ECU was about to continue having our number. I hadn't forgotten our loss to them 2 years ago. I didn't get to see any of the game but it sounds like they played hard because it was close.

Re: Redskins vs. Giants pre-game thread

I do expect the Skins to win - decidedly. However, there are two areas that I am leary about.

1. O-line - We are done if we can't establish a good running game. If the O-line can't open holes for the backs, and we are forced into 3rd and long a lot, I think Rex is in for a long day.

2. Pass coverage - not just the DBs but the LBs as well. I just really don't know what to expect since I didn't get to see any preseason games. But the player turnover from last year is big and I have a hard time believing they will have their communication down with the shortened offseason. I'm hoping they surprise me...that being said, if we can get to ELI and stop the run I'm not as worried.

Good to see all the emotion in this thread...I love America and all your opinions on the game and everything else. Wish I was there to go to the game and feel that energy.

NC_Skins - been looking all over ever since I got here, but you're right... no WMD so far :cheeky-sm

Re: Redskins vs. Giants pre-game thread

Getting back to the game, the preseason gave me reason for hope but Im not getting my hopes up too high.To almost qoute Allen Iverson, its preseason man, preseason.I havent seen any of the so called experts pick us to win this game or even hit 8 wins this yr.I dont know if were blinded by being fans or theyre just going by what they saw last year.If we do not beat the Giants it doesnt bode well for the rest of the season. They have so many injuries we dont have any excuses for not winning this game

Agree about not getting hopes up too high...but I would say that half of the 10 ESPN guys who make weekly picks have chosen the Redskins to win this weekend and Jaws has us in the playoffs...and I agree about no excuses

Expert's Take: Redskins vs. Giants | John Keim | NFL | Washington Examiner

The following analysis from Matt Bowen might do the redskins well.

On attacking their defense: “If I was Mike Shanahan, I’d use a lot of three receiver sets. I’d force them to bring a nickelback on the field, see what kind of depth they’ve got and you can run the ball out of that, too. And I’d take a deep shot really early in the game, in the first three plays. I’d want to let them know we’re going to test the secondary all day.”

Cofield is the one player I'll be zeroing in on in tomorrow's game. I want to see how well he man's the position against a team that loves to run the ball inside, especially with a big powerful back like Jacobs.

The Giants....unlike us, go into their season contests against the Redskins believing they're going to win....It's a quiet confidence they have because they've had so much success against us in the past. They don't hope or wish maybe they will win, regardless of the situation or circumstance they honestly believe (to a man) they will beat the Redskins whenever or wherever they play them. We know it's not a lack of respect because we've played so many close games with them.

There was a time when we played with that same type of confidence. We didn't go into games thinking maybe....hoping....if'ing....we "might" win. We knew we were going to win, and I envision us now beginning to develop that kind of mind-set again.

TRUE enough, and I think we are on the road back...finally. I will be a happy man indeed when I do not preface a response to a Redskin question with "If ".
