I can't see the guy playing OLB in our system unless we're going to teach him to cover and make plays in space. And finally i don't see him as a a run-blocking monster at LDE...so again not sure where Orakpo fits but i guess we can say the Skins took the BPA at 13...that's nice.
I've been thinking about it (and I haven't seen the presser with Vinny if he said anything) but I actually don't see a reason why Orakpo can't play the LDE position. He is 266, he is strong as hell ... what I am saying is that he is not a 235 lbs. Jason Taylor. In fact, if you read the profile of him on NFL.com it says he might be better suited to the strong side because "he lacks great explosion and pass rush off the edge." I haven't watched full game tapes of the guy, obviously, but it seems to me he can set the edge and offer some pressure from the strong side.

when asked VC said the question would have to be answered by Greg, he(VC) just acquires the players.

Be the best case scenario if it worked there...I hope his body can take the pounding at LDE.

...was very surprised to hear Ayers is expected to put on another 15 or 20 lbs in the NFL, putting him close to 290lbs. Anybody here that before today?

Ok i gotta say it...whoever takes Rey from this point probably gets the best value in the draft. Wells could be that guy too but the injury history isn't comforting.

If the Patriots end up with Rey that's going to be ridiculous. Talk about going from one of the oldest LB corps to one of the youngest (and best).

Yes. They should have taken Pettigrew.

Can you imagine the 2 TE sets Philly would have run? Scary man, just scary. I think they should have taken Pettigrew as well or Wells cuz after the oft injured Westbrook who's gonna carry that pigskin?

So Rey will be the last USC 'backer off the board.

If Rey falls to round 2, I might see us going to get him.

Yep. I'm shocked at that and the fact he dropped so far. I mean at this point I have to ask what might have been for us in a trade down scenario to get him and another pick. Oh well...not gonna complain about Orakpo but honestly i don't expect him to be the impact player in our system most are expecting.

Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion

I see us using Orakpo as a 2-down SLB and then moving him up to DE on 3rd downs to rush the passer.

There was a reason why I was against drafting Rey-Rey at 13... looks like some other teams thought so too.

Orakpo is the best case scenario for the Skins. I can't believe he dropped to us. I remember watching UT games earlier last season and thinking this guy had to go top 3. The dude is a beast upfield.
