I think Housh's skillset would not only be redundant but he would take valueable reps/targets playing time from other players (Anthony Armstrong, Devin Thomas) we should be developing long term.

Also if we sign Housh wouldn't that mean that the coaching staff's faith in our current WRs is all false bravado and bluster?
No Roydell Williams would not produce the same stats as Housh would.

Tj would be productive. If we do get him I hope it isn't to a long term contract.

I hope we can get him for a 1 year deal that's it.

Although the Redskins opted to keep six wide receivers on their 53-man roster, they're apparently still considering other options. Put T.J. Houshmandzadeh near the top of that list.

Unable to broker a trade before the deadline for roster cuts, the Seattle Seahawks released Houshmandzadeh on Saturday. According to the Seattle Times, his top options now appear to be the Redskins and the Oakland Raiders.

Houshmandzadeh could be a good deal for some team. Though he has a guaranteed salary of $7 million this season, Seattle will pay the bulk of the contract. Houshmandzadeh will likely land somewhere for the veteran minimum.

Though the Redskins kept a half dozen receivers on the roster, only Santana Moss has a clear cut role. Joey Galloway appears to be the favorite to start opposite him but another receiver could easily come to Redskins Park and make a strong case for playing time. The team's other receivers include Anthony Armstrong, Devin Thomas, Roydell Williams and Brandon Banks, an undrafted rookie.

Houshmandzadeh, who's 32 years old and entering his 10th season, has been a regular starter in the league and topped 900 yards each of the past six seasons. Though he has a strong roots in the West Coast, there's a chance he'd be able to compete with Galloway for the Redskins' No. 2 receiver spot. His best season came in 2007 when had 1,143 and 12 touchdowns on 112 receptions.
I think that he'd be a good addition honestly. Guys can't say that we can't give up what it will take to get VJ and still say that we shouldn't go after TJ as well. I am assuming that the reason that we still have a practice squad position open is due to something that we anticipated happening as far as bringing at least one guy in.

For the vet minimum why not? Houz would instantly be the 2nd best receiver on the team and possibly best. We have nothing to lose. Let's get it done.

Williams/Galloway need to go... Housh for a 1 yr incentive based deal is a steal, so FO make it happen! IMO we need another true FS so i'd cut Horton and sign the local kid Harris.

I don't know that I'd cut Horton since he plays lights out when healthy. I'd put serious thought into cutting Landry though.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh looking at Raiders, Redskins

Posted by Michael David Smith on September 5, 2010 10:04 PM ET
After getting cut by the Seahawks and spurned by the Vikings and Bengals, free agent wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh is now looking at the Raiders and Redskins.

Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times reports that Houshmandzadeh has not returned messages since being released, but a source who had spoken to Houshmandzadeh said he appears to be narrowing down his destinations to either Oakland or Washington.

The 32-year-old Houshmandzadeh led the Seahawks in catches last year and has more than 900 receiving yards in each of the last five seasons.

O'Neill writes that Houshmandzadeh is likely to sign for the veteran minimum salary in 2010.
Man, I wonder which one he'll pick?

LeGarrette Blount cut by the Titans!

I'd say sign him for sure if Vinny was still around just to get him to punch him in the face! I mean he's going to punch SOMEONE in the face for every team he plays for...

Hey maybe we can sign him just for the Dallas game! Get him to run a pitch play when Jerry is on the sidelines at the end of the game! lmao... sorry... just rambling now... lol

With a statement that will stir shit up like that, why didn't you elaborate? Do you really think with all the reports we hear about Haslett putting Landry in his natural spot, the one he excelled at when he had Taylor beside him back in 2007, that he still will play like shit? Let's face it Blatche put him at FS because Blatche was not a coach that plays players' to their individual strengths. He has a scheme and he will use his players anywhere he likes in that scheme, regardless of whether they are a good fit or not.

Honestly it's probably closer than we would think. While Oakland was a model for disfunction, they are definitely on everybody's radar as a team that is improving. They've made great offseason choices, they already had a good defense last year, they're looking better with JC at qb (huge upgrade over JaMarcus "Purple Drank" Russell), and to a guy like Housh, they may not seem like a bad choice. So I won't be suprised if he goes there, but I also definitely wouldn't mind if he chose here, as I've been unimpressed and definitely not enthusiastic at the idea of having Galloway actually play the #2 spot.

Not to mention more likely to extend/pay more in the future. The Raiders went 5-11 last year, we won 4. I see us making a better turnaround but who knows.

Plus OAK puts TJ back in his home state, even though he's much farther north than where he's from, but it's not like San Diego is blowing up his phone.
