Re: Official 2012 Election Day Thread

As said in the article, this is just a "toothless temper tantrum" from some on the far right. I am not sure what the population of each State where it is filed, but I expect anywhere from a 10-20% response - with only a small portion of those numbers actually reflecting people who desire seccession and the rest made up of people "making a statement".

Reconciling the (what appear to be) very different views of America based largely on regionalism is going to be a difficult challenge for this country going forward.

I don't believe we have "very different" views. I do believe the agitators want us to believe we have "very different" views. They have sold certain segment of the population on the idea that "There's Nothing in the Middle of the Road but Yellow Stripes and Dead Armadillos" and that compromise and win-win solutions are not desirable.

Bottom line, the problem is lack of leadership and in absence of leadership you get this:

We need leaders who can say "that's quite enough of that."

Can't get your media at work. I think I generally agree with you.

If this seems contradictory, I ask forgiveness for failing to express it well - I believe their are great areas of agreement, some areas of real disagreement and large areas of misunderstanding (by both sides) and that regionalism plays a part in all of that.

In terms of leadership, I agree.

Even the dems. say they won by giving stuff away.

Democratic members of Congress said Tuesday they won by focusing on protecting and expanding entitlements and by calling for higher taxes on upper-income people.

Do we have quite a few disagreements that difficult to abridge? Whether it be the role of government, abortion or climate change there is a difference and always will be. Some folks believe abortion is abhorrent and should be banned but a polarity of the public does not and the recognition of that is more important than the recognition of the difference itself. You can't have it your way all time.

I mean, the legality of Abortion has been settled for almost 40 years but for some reason there are "leaders" who believe its ban is attainable if they only speak loud enough and legislate hard enough. The banning of abortion is as impossible as the banning of alcohol and it takes leadership to bring those who want to ban it in line with reality.

There are a lot of people who tend to get upset and walk away when you disagree with them and all that does is create more distance.

Mitt Romney Campaign Aides Had Credit Cards Canceled Late On Election Night

What a douche bag. I'm glad this assclown's political career is OVER. Good riddance asshole. Here I thought the guy gave a great concession speech, only to find out he turned around and ****ed his staffers. Good job staff, and as a reward for your loyalty and hard work, let me **** you over. Thanks! This message is approved by Mitt Romney!

Because it's leaders (especially on the GOP side) continue to divide its core. The sooner this assclown gets out of the public, the better. Don't go away mad Mitt, just go away.

Dont think Mitt is going to run again based on the opinions of some of us on the WP. Everybody should know how lucky we are that the assclown did not win the election. Keep it coming NC. Makes me feel good about the vote i cast.
