Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
I've just about had it with JLC's blog. It used to be a great source but right now it's at the point where I can learn more about the Skins on ES (aka the neverending sea of pointless threads).
And personally I love ES these days. Kids over there are so quick to click on the New Thread button, it's hilarious. Some of my personal favorites playing right now: If Kenny Phillips gets drafted by a division rival(21 related) Chris Wilson future Pro Bowl sack specialist? Check Out my Mock Draft...give me your thoughts Will Zorn win an NFC East game in '08? If The Skins Had The 1st Overall Pick - Smootsmack!! You didn't!!! This is the best year to take a QB in the Draft!!!!! Anyway heres more of the neverending bitching from JLC's blog. The post is so bad it doesn't really deserve it's own thread. Hell it doesn't really belong in this thread but one post in a 'sideways 8' page thread can't hurt. Can it? (JLC's Blog Is) In The Tank In a blog recently concerning the Redskins' spending, I made reference to owner Daniel Snyder's other businesses being "in the tank." David Donovan, the Redskins' General Counsel, took issue with this and sent a letter to washingtonpost.com and The Washington Post complaining that the statement unfairly and inaccurately characterized Snyder's business acumen. The businesses I had in mind were those with prominent local ties - his Red Zebra radio stations, and Six Flags theme parks. I was not referring to any of Mr. Snyder's other businesses. My opinion was based on the fact that Red Zebra's Arbitron ratings have been poor and fans have complained about its weak signals, particularly during broadcasts of Redskins games. As for Six Flags, its stock price fell from around $12 a share to less than $2 a share after Snyder led a hostile takeover of the company in 2005, installing a new CEO and winning shareholder approval to oust the existing directors. Mr. Donovan counters that "Red Zebra has continued to expand in an industry in which other companies are shedding stations and expects to achieve double-digit growth during 2008 and 2009." He also says that Mr. Snyder neither owns nor manages Six Flags - he is "a stockholder and non-managing Chairman of the Board" so it is therefore not his business.

The Six Flags thing while technically true (not really being his business) it still seems a bit like a cop-out As for Red Zebra, they will probably very soon announce some new additions to their station lineup in the DC area that will make them very potent

Props! Its just that B. Albert may not fall that far to us anymore. So Who would you put in his place now, and how would that affect the rest of your draft?

Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
So this morning I was telling Matty (Matty and I talked a lot this morning) that rumors around here and Redskins Park were that Kelly might even be available late in round 2...and then BAM! He reportedly runs a 4.63 and a 4.66 in his private pro day.
He bitched and moaned only to drop from a 4.68 to a 4.63 (at best)? He's plumetting So we can go 1. Merling 2. Kelly or if Merling isn't there, we can possibly trade down out of the first round and into the early second and get Campbell or Jackson. Next Saturday is going to be fun

Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
Interesting article from NFL Draft Countdown. Personally I don't consider them the best source for information on prospects but they do provide very manageable info as well as college stats for all four years, which to me is a huge reason why I frequently visit their site. Anyway I thought it was funny that some of the players the Redskins were looking at were being compared to current Redskin players.
Quarterbacks Matt Ryan - Matt Hasselbeck Brian Brohm - Marc Bulger Joe Flacco - Ben Roethlisberger Chad Henne - Jon Kitna André Woodson - David Carr J.D. Booty - Brian Griese Running Backs Darren McFadden - Edgerrin James Jonathan Stewart - Jamal Lewis Rashard Mendenhall - Shaun Alexander Felix Jones - Brian Westbrook Chris Johnson - Tatum Bell Ray Rice - Travis Henry Matt Forté - Ladell Betts - Redskins are currently looking into him Kevin Smith - Chris Brown Jamaal Charles - Willie Parker Fullbacks Peyton Hillis - Brian Leonard Owen Schmitt - Mike Karney Jacob Hester - Nick Goings Wide Receivers Devin Thomas - Javon Walker Limas Sweed - Larry Fitzgerald DeSean Jackson - Ted Ginn James Hardy - Plaxico Burress Mario Manningham - Isaac Bruce Malcolm Kelly - Dwyane Jarrett Tight Ends Dustin Keller - Chris Cooley - err not really looking but still interesting John Carlson - Anthony Becht Martellus Bennett - Marcedes Lewis Fred Davis - Chris Baker Offensive Tackles Jake Long - Jamaal Brown Ryan Clady - Jason Peters Jeff Otah - Kareem McKenzie Gosder Cherilus - Jonas Jennings Chris Williams - Chris Samuels Offensive Guards Branden Albert - Vernon Carey Chilo Rachal - Derrick Dockery Roy Schuening - Steve Neal Centers Mike Pollak - Hank Fraley Jeremy Zuttah - Chris Chester Defensive Ends Chris Long - Mike Vrabel Vernon Gholston - Shawne Merriman Derrick Harvey - Will Smith Phillip Merling - Trevor Pryce Calais Campbell - Tommy Kelly Quentin Groves - LaMarr Woodley Lawrence Jackson - Kenechi Udeze Defensive Tackles Glenn Dorsey - Anthony McFarland Sedrick Ellis - Casey Hampton Kentwan Balmer - Vonnie Holliday Trevor Laws - Chris Hovan Outside Linebackers Keith Rivers - Derrick Johnson Erin Henderson - E.J. Henderson Cliff Avril - Shaun Phillips Xavier Adibi - Demorrio Williams Inside Linebackers Jerod Mayo - Al Wilson Dan Connor - Paul Posluszny Curtis Lofton - David Harris Cornerbacks D. Rodgers-Cromartie - Antonio Cromartie Leodis McKelvin - Philip Buchanon Mike Jenkins - Carlos Rogers Antoine Cason - Antrel Rolle Aqib Talib - Chris McAlister Safeties Kenny Phillips - Chris Hope Reggie Smith - Brodney Pool DaJuan Morgan - Sean Jones Tyrell Johnson - Daniel Manning

So DRC reminds them of his cousin? Erin Henderson reminds them of his brother? Fascinating

Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
A Jaguars insider told us not to be surprised if Jacksonville tinkers with some 3-4 defensive alignments next season. Despite the fact that the backgrounds of coach Jack Del Rio and new coordinator Gregg Williams are primarily rooted in the 4-3, personnel groupings make the experimentation an enticing option. The Jags lack prototypical speed at defensive end, but their starters have enough bulk to hold up as bookends in three-man fronts. Furthermore, they feel they have the cast of linebackers necessary to dabble in the scheme. That being said, the 4-3 will remain their base defense.

Rd1. Devin Thomas
Rd2. Kentwan Balmer With these selections I hoping that other teams devalue the fact that these to guys have a lot to prove. Both are considered one-year wonders but, I believe the most recent year is the most important when projecting upside to the next level. |

Re: (updated title): Make Your Day One Redskins Draft Selections (Rounds 1-2)
some of those comparisions aren't.... amazing :/.
i do think keller is the best TE this year though and a good pick up on any team, though he'd be a #2 in a decent number of places. |
