Re: Who Will Be The Redskins 2011 Opening Day Starting QB?
i wouldnt go 3-4 end in the first round. there arent any elite o-lineman in the first round either. we need offensive playmakers at wide receiver, a qb for the future, o-line, d-line, and another rush linebacker. i'd look at taking either blackmon at receiver in the first or a rush outside linebacker to compliment orakpo and take pressure off of him. if locker is there, i think shanahan would take him though.
i think grossman will be the opening day starting qb.

Last year, at 4-12 our defense was still top 10-12, and one year later we are 28-31. There is definitely some to blame on the coordinator when we didnt lose a whole lot on defense. |

I don't think it's Haslett's fault. You can't run a good scheme with out the right players. I blame Shanny because he's so married to the 3-4 in the first place. I've said a few times that it's much easier to build a good offense if you already have a good defense. It just seems like common sense to leave it the way it was, revamp the offensive side, then if you want, make the switch. Because it's also easier to rebuild a defense if your now working with a good offense. Doing them both at once seems like such an up hill battle that takes so long.

I definitely wouldn't mind seeing that. Only if we picked up another pick and grabbed him up some protection. If he's not protected I've seen him fall apart and get rattled in a hurry. If he's feeling relaxed, he can beat you a lot of different ways.

Source: Donovan McNabb seeks release By Adam Schefter ESPN Archive Being that Donovan McNabb no longer is a part of the Washington Redskins' game plans, he has his own game plan in place for after this season, according to one person close to the quarterback. NFC East blog Mosley ESPN.com's Matt Mosley writes about all things NFC East in his division blog. • Blog network: NFL Nation After the season, McNabb is planning to meet with the Redskins and ask them for his release. McNabb wants to be in a position where he can pick the place to finish his career, not have it dictated to him as was the case last season when Philadelphia traded him to Washington. It's highly unlikely the Redskins initially would release McNabb, not when they believe he still has some trade value. Washington would want to recoup as much as possible for the player whom they surrendered second- and fourth-round picks. What will test McNabb's trade value is the $10 million option bonus in his contract that another team might have to pay. Yet there are any number of teams -- Minnesota, Seattle, San Francisco, Carolina, Tennessee and Miami -- with significant quarterback questions looming for 2011. McNabb was benched only once in 11 years with Philadelphia, and he's already doubled that total with the Redskins since being acquired by the team in April. Shanahan yanked McNabb for Rex Grossman in the final two minutes against Detroit in October with the game on the line, then offered several strange excuses for the decision. Earlier this season Mike Shanahan said he felt Grossman had a better grasp of the team's two-minute offense, then said McNabb lacked the "cardiovascular endurance" to run a fast-paced drill because of nagging hamstring injuries. Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said McNabb had been tipped off in advance that the team might go with Grossman; McNabb said he hadn't. Then the Redskins gave McNabb a five-year contract extension worth up to $78 million -- though the quarterback is guaranteed to receive only an extra $3.5 million this season. The deal contains a clause that allows the Redskins to cut McNabb before next season with no further financial obligation. But with McNabb intending to ask the Redskins for his release, and with Washington in the market to trade him, one result seems unavoidable. McNabb will not be a Redskin in 2011.

Screw mcnabb he will be let go b/c Coach wants him gone or if the money is too much on another aging cap heavy veteran (Wash. always finds ways to resign unwanted or over pay these aging vets). I wish his salary was low enough where we could keep him and stash him down the depth charts- he doesnt get to dictate his career simply by where he wants to finish.
Why did he reisgn if he isnt using the haynesworth take the money upfront then pee his pants and act a childish fool.

Getting a chance to play usually takes priority over winning a ring as a backup.

At his age? Isn't he Joey Galloway era? I think my grandfather used to tell me stories about watching him play when he was a kid.

And let's not make last year's D into the 2000 Ravens. Yes, they were good statistically, but not in terms of takeaways or stopping opponents when they absolutely had to. Some of the decline we've seen this year can be traced back to changes in scheme, and some mistakes with coaching, but by far I'd say it's performance related. The guys up front just aren't that good. |

The article also pointed out the probability of that not happening. Same way for other QB's expected to go in next year's draft.
