Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins
Ah man...don't ruin Daisy Duke's good name like that! LOL!
![]() I understand the disappointment that some of you guys have with the notion that Jim Haslett is staying on as DC - at least for now. Believe me, it was a WTF moment for me as well. I would much rather Gruden bring in someone completely different to coach that side of the ball, but man, it is what it is. Let's see what Haslett and company can do with some better free agents this season. So, can anybody confirm the coaches, other than the Shanahans of course, that were let go? Burns (ST) and who else?

Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins
My main concern is still defense. It has sucked for years. Sticking with our current staff just doesn't make sense. I mean...the first few games I think we had the worst defense in last 50 years in the whole NFL. But now, because they hired Gruden...he's got links to all of them....and I believe Haslett was a prior boss. I just hate all the inbreeding at Redskins park. I was frankly hoping for a coach to come in and clear house defensively and special teams....it would have made more sense, based on performance, to retain Kyle and cut Hasslet (who chronically has bad defenses) and the special teams coach.
Keeping our defensive coachies..ie doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of stupidity. I sure hope Gruden has the balls to cut Haslett. That would show a lot. At that point, he will gain my respect....and probably the players too.

It looked like he was a bit suprised about the press' infatuation with RG3 and may be thinking these press meetings are going to be a bigger pain in the butt than he thought

Re: Jay Gruden hired as head coach of the Redskins
Is there a defensive coordinator we could pick up that is not on the team that would be better than anyone on our staff?....heck...I would randomly select a position coach from Seattle, San Fran, Carolina
