All I think he needs is to build some confidence. The return game is pretty much two things, if you have them both, you can be a stud: 1) Blazing speed with some moves 2) The balls to run full speed at the oncoming coverage team, and confidence in yourself to find a small crease and hit it with authority. Basically you just run straight towards oncoming traffic. Right now he's way too scared to do it right. But if he can build confidence in NFL Europe, that's all I think he needs to be great. |

Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
I think he just needs some fundamentals on the punts. Parcells says there are two reasons punt returners fumble: They are either drifting or reaching. He needs to learn how to run to the spot and set up rather than floating lazily under it.

Playing in Amsterdam will give a whole new meaning to the phrase "Antonio Brown has blazin' speed"...or "His goal of playing professional football was more than just a pipe dream"
I didn't even Jonathan Combs was still on the roster, by the way.

I know it is easy to pick on Brown but....
If he doesn't run that kick back people would be calling for Gibbs to retire. |

Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
you guys want to pull your pants up a bit? Why is Jerry Jones wearing the same outfit as the coaches? Was he planning on working with the backup quarterbacks or something? Have some dignity and lose the coulats. Be more like this guy:

I really and truly believe it's a mental block. Everyone knows how to run under a punt, that's not hard to do physically speaking. It's all in your head, you have to be willing to ignore the oncoming freight trains that are looking to level you. You have to focus. If you're scared and intimidated, you're going to have trouble and that's what appears to be his problem to me. Especially on punts, he's just indecisive and afraid to run forward, so we get a lot of the dancing around. |

Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
brown seems to be better suited to return kickoffs.i think the reason you saw so much uncertainity out of him on punt returns that he was getting hang on to the ball drilled into his head, that he wasnt able to just react and try to make a play

Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
Well I hope he learns something while he's there. I was upset when he fumbled in that game early in the season. I was so happy that they cut him, but when they brought him back I questioned the decision. He just didn't seem to have his head in the game. I was glad he had a few highlights, but I think they should stick with Betts.

Re: Antonio Brown sent to NFL Europe
Antonio Brown needs this NFLE experience and whatever he can get in the way of coaching over there. At the moment, Antonio Brown is today's version of Cliff Russell - - he can run faster than just about anyone in the league AND he can't catch a cold.
Russell hung on for 3 years or so because he was so damned fast that coaches could not believe that they couldn't teach him something simple like catching a football. After all, you can teach a 7-year old how to do that, no? But Russell never learned and now he's off to some other career. Antonio Brown needs to improve about as much as Cliff Russell needed to improve; Brown's hands are substandard for an Ivy League wide receiver. But he can run - very, very fast. And so he has an opportunity in NFLE this spring and will get a lot of tutelage in minicamp and traiing camp and ... The bottom line is simple: Can he be taught how to catch a football reliably? Cliff Russell couldn't.
