Way to go, BigSkin!!! That's awesome news--College Park is a blast. Oh, and I think the school is pretty good, too!

Re: Saden1 presents The Official Congratulations BSB on Getting into Maryland Thread

Thanks again guys.

Dmek I am going to major in business and got into the smith school and cpayne I got into the scholors program. Go skins i will stay there as long as possible and enjoy every minute and skinsfan I will have fun with my peers. Duffman I will be part of the riots, i know that I don't think i could just stand around with people going crazy. Malcolm you are officially invited to any parties or riots at CP and JW I do hear CP is a lot of fun. My cousin is there right now. Saden thanks for the advice, my cousin did not do very well his first year and he is now trying to fix it. I know freshman year must be hard. I don't do any work any more in my senior year. I worked like a bitch my junior year but now i have little work to do or care about. I will keep my grades decent enough not to get kicked out of college because of this last semester. I know it will be hard to adjust to doing real work again next year. I will try to get internships and I am interning right now while in high school. Thanks again guys

Re: Saden1 presents The Official Congratulations BSB on Getting into Maryland Thread

As long as you've been drinking since high school, you'll be fine. I was VERY anti-drinking until college when peer pressure got me started. After that, I found out how much fun it was and proceeded to skip class and ended freshman fall semester with a 1.8. I finished college with a 3.2 but that's ONLY because I had to make Dean's List every time afterwards. If I can give you any advice, it's to get a feel for each professor. They all have their tendencies. Like some of them will allow you to skip class as much as you want as long as you keep your grades at a decent level. I went to a smaller school where they actually care if I came to class, CP might be too big for that.

Just to put it simply, have fun and NEVER leave because the real world sucks and you'll never realize how much fun college was until you leave.

Hey Bigskin, I've been a member for a while but haven't posted yet (just read). I too am 17, a huge redskin fan, and just got accepted to Smith School of Business and College Park scholars. Congratulations! Maybe I'll see you there.

THE TAKEOVER--2006
**** DUKE, **** UNC, **** BC, VT, GT, and every non-terp ACC team.
I just got my "decking" out done. 4 shirts, 2 hats, and sweater, my grandmother insisted .
-----------------
Dan looks like we are doing the same thing. Assuming we both get into scholars of BSE we will be of a group of 70-90 peole so we will be seeing a lot of each other i assume.
Do you think you will be going?? I don't seem to have a choice. I might go to Michigan or maybe Wisconsin and I have gotten into Penn State but I don't really get to decide. Maryland-18,000 Penn State 32,000 and MICHIGAN 36,000 so I am thinking Maryland. I hear Scholars students sometimes get scholarships so we will see.

Another Warpather that will part of THEE takeover is Vishsskins but he is a genious scientist so we won't see much of him. He has also gotten into Michigan and UNC so maybe we really won't be seeing him.
-------------------------------
Malcolm I will try to keep myself focused but it will be hard but in the mean time to prep for college(entirely for educational value) I will erge my entire SECOND SEMESTER SENIOR class to drink their hearts out.

Yea, Bigskin I will probably end up there just because of in state tuition. Your right both of us are up for possible scholarships come April, even though I don't know what the college park scholars thing is about. But good luck and if we both go there, maybe we can get some fellow Warpathers down to the Cornerstone Bar for a skins game next fall!

I would HIGHLY advise finding out exactly what the scholars program is and whether or not it's right for you. When I applied to GMU, I was invited into the "Honors" program. I accepted the invitation without really looking much into it. About 1/4 way through my first semester, I found out it was a "special" set of classes (basically substitutes for GenEd classes) to force liberal BS down the students' throats. On top of that, the classes would not have transferred if I had tried to go to another school at some point. When I realized this, it was too late to drop the classes and replace them w/ something else, so I just trudged through it.

You're not talking about New Century College program are you? Man that was such a B.S. program. I mean, everyone in that program had a 4.0 GPA.

Thanks for the advice. I have been trying to find out as much as I can about it but here is what I know. There are 13 scholar programs and students invited to the scholars program "pick" which one they want. Popular ones like the business program will get more people picking it so they will only take a little over 50% of those who pick it. everyone in the CP scholars thing gets to be in a program but it might not be their first choice.

The business one doesn't say much about what they will do... They only talk about how much fun it is and all the activities the kids get to do(like field trips to hershey park(WTF:confused-) and stuff like that. Other than that the kids just advise some local business on what to do. The site doesn't go into any detail. 20 credits are outlined for us for the first two years and if we take them we pass the scholars thing.

My cousin has some friends and a lot of his friends are in it so i am going to call them up and I will visit.

That must suck... why wouldn't the credits transfer for you. That is BS. I don't plan to transfer to another school but i am not ruling it out by any means. Thanks for the advice. i'll make sure I look into it. I got into a similar program at Penn State so i will look into that too. Thanks.

No, this was the Honors Program. Instead of taking the basic GenEd classes (ie, english 101, history 101), they had their own classes you would take. I've heard of the New Century College, but really don't know much about it.

BSB, the reason they wouldn't transfer is because they were non-standard hybrid type classes. Many people had trouble getting other Unis to take them.

Congrats! saden1 is right - I crushed my first semester (way back when!), and it was easy sailing from there on out. Definitely a lot less pressure if you start out strong.

You're damn right it is. I'm probably going to transfer there after this semester too. Because Tulane dropped my major. As long as I don't fail a class here there's no reason I won't get in. I got in last fall and my GPA at my Community College was really high. I'm actually gonna apply this weekend cause early acceptance for transfers deadline is March 1. So when I'm hung over Saturday I'll apply.

Re: Saden1 presents The Official Congratulations BSB on Getting into Maryland Thread

Ok, so i go out to UMD and run around doing thing after thing and twice i say twice i saw james gist. It was gist. I am no idiot. The mammath man must have been 6-9/6-10. He was standing right next to me. I was like no one is bothering him so i won't either. Soon some kids started pointing and i mouthed to them 'is that gist' and they said yah in a wisper.

My question is do the athletes just walk around like its no one's business?? Is it ok to talk to them? I am sure a kick ass this week is good but can you ask for autographs?? THat is wierd. I don't want to ask for an autograph but he was right there. I didn't but i assumed I would see him all the time. do people see them all the time?
